Wii internal memory - how many VC games will it hold?

Ever since I got my 360 Elite and moved, my Wii hasn't got any attention...but now that my game room is falling into place I fully intend to dust off the Wii this upcoming holiday season. I noticed the other night when I finally got the system updated and online that there are some stellar games on the VC now.

My question is, how many of the 8/16-bit games will the internal 512 MB hold? I sold off my Neo Geo & PC Engine Duo systems awhile back, so I'm jazzed to see a lot of the old school shoot'em up shooters being released. I've already got a 1GB SD card, but can't you only save the VC games to the internal memory.

I sure wish Live Arcade had more retro games than they do. I'd love to be able to post high scores and such online for games like Soldier Blade and other shooters. Perhaps we could get a stickied "High Scores" thread?!

In simplest terms, a lot. I've got around 10 total, with two or three being the bigger N64 games, and I'm nowhere near to it being full.

I believe you can save VC games to an external card, but you can't play them off of it - not entirely sure on that.

I don't understand why Nintendo designed an SD card slot in the system as backup only.

It should just expand the system's memory.

I got a classic controller so now I need to DL Super Mario World and Magician Lord.

Yeah, it's a fairly idiot move - probably did it to foil hackers or something. I hope they update it to allow it.

Let me know how well that Classic controller is as I've debated picking up a couple. Must DL Magician Lord...it was one of the first games I tracked down after buying a Neo Geo some time ago. Game play is a little dated and it's super hard at times...but it's still a blast to play.

You know what would be cool? If they made an adapter that allowed you to plug the GC controller into the Wiimote. Maybe someone does and I'm unaware of it?

If you're into Neo Geo or N64 games, not nearly enough.

Example? How many do you have?

A little research tells me that the maximum size for a Neo-Geo cart is around 90 MB, so I suppose if they released them all, it would fill up quickly. I would imagine they are staying away from the super-huge carts for now.

I just use wave birds, I thought it was kind of dumb that they didn't make the Classic wireless anyways.

More interested in the 16-bit shooters so I think I'll be OK. If they start releasing some of the old Neo Geo shooters then I'm in trouble.

Is the Wavebird that much than, say, the Mad Catz wireless.
I can't find Wavebird's anywhere, but I can find Mad Catz controllers.

Wavebird = GHEYEST Controller name ever.

I got mine for $7 a piece, but don't tell the store I used to work at.  I think they were around $30-40 but they are the best wireless controller to date.

paper mario takes up a crapload of space. if you don't plan on using the browser there's not a lot of point in keeping it on there either, as it takes up more space than almost anything. i have an sd card in there and i stick my little-played stuff on it, including the browser. i wasn't quite full but i almost was, maybe 200 blocks left, so i wanted to play it safe.
i'm too lazy to count all my vc games right now, but i have a lot. 4 are n64 games so they take up a lot more space. nes and tg16 games tend to take up 20-30 blocks. genesis and snes take around 30-60. n64 games are all around 125-250 blocks. i have no clue on neo-geo, but they're probably around n64 sized. yeah...

Yeah same here, I use the wavebird for gamecube and N64 games, then the classic controller for all the rest of the systems.

I have alot of VC games since it's mostly what I use my Wii for. I'm at the point now where I have to delete older games in order to download new ones. I'm not sure on the exact number though. I'd have to check at home.

Can't you move them to a SD card instead of deleting them? I know you can't play them off the SD card, but wouldn't that be easier than going back to download them again in the future?

    Wavebirds are amazing!

I got mine for free :D  The guy forgot to scan it, and deactivated it anyway.
