I just bought my oldest son a used DS lite, and I was playing around with it this morning and noticed I have 3 bars on the WiFi signal indicator - I have no idea where this signal is coming from, I don't have a wireless home network.

Is there anyway to find out?

Could be a neighbor. Depending on your living situation, if in apartments you might pick up quite a few. If in a house, maybe your next door neighbors have one set up.

Don't know how, but I assume ther are Signal Strength metters out there to find them and see how strong and far they go. You can be happy free net, and feel bad for the guy your leaching off because he was not smart enuf to lock his network up. Unless your buy a College or high Tech school, they leave there netwroks open alot.

See... I have no idea, there are no schools nearby or anything like that.

Live in a house, and I wouldn't think my neighbors on either side of me have wireless networks - I guess I'm going to have to get a wireless usb adapter for my PC and check it out.

My guess is that someone close by has an open wireless network.

Resturants like Panara Bread are Wi-Fi, as are most hotels nowadays if you're close to one of them as well.

I "leach" off my neighbors Wi-Fi; when I moved into my house, and we talked about my setting up for internet and whatnot, he made the suggestion I use his, and we worked out an agreement. So I'm using their Wi-Fi, and I pay them a few bucks, far less than it would cost for me to set up and maintain, and they even moved their hub closer so I get a "Very Good" to "Excellent" signal from them. This really worked out well for me, and they were glad to help out.

You should try to connect to it, see if it is password protected?

I use the Ninendo USB Connector with my Wii and it's well worth it if you end up needing one.
