Hi everybody. I've got a concern with my 360. When I first turn it on, it has a HEAVY "hot electronics" smell. I can smell it like 4 feet from it. It goes away after it's been on for a few minutes, but it scares the Hell out of me. Does anyone else have this? I guess it'd be more of a concern if it didn't go away. Thoughts?

My Elite smelled like this for the first week. Just make sure your 360 is Horizontal and getting enough air-flow.

Sounds like dust was being incinerated. Give you Xbox some space and a proper airflow. Try to keep it off the floor if possible.

what he said. get a cooling station too, and while you're at it use some canned air to clean the inside.

Are the cooling stations worth buying? I'd read somewhere that some of them cause problems. As for ventilation, it's on an entertainment center with an open front and back. My PS3 sits beside it. Thanks for the input.

Agreed with Twin Twist, dont buy a cooling station. You want an air source that pushes the heat out the back of the 360. Thats why there are so many holes back there. Cooling fans will try to push the heat out the top or side but will leave most it trapped inside the box.

I put a floor fan right in front of my 360 and turn it to low. It pushes cool air in the side and top vents while moving the hot air out the back.

Dont believe me? Next time you have your 360 on for an hour or two, put your hand behind the 360 and feel the heat. If its super hot you need more air flow from front to back.

With how hot the newest generation of consoles get, I wonder what to expect next time around.
