    Hey all,

A friend of mine has a 7-year old son, and she's been asking me if I think he could go see the movie.

I told her I don't know because I've been avoiding spoilers like the plague :)

So, without giving too much away, why the PG-13 rating? Obviously, violence will be plentiful, so you don't need to worry about mentioning that one. I also read the reasons that the Film Ratings gave it a PG-13, but I was hopin' to get a bit more specific than that... again without givin' too much away

    Anyway, just curious.

    Have fun!!!

Um, Violence, voilence, violence. Plus a whole lot of real bad language, and sex jokes. My young cousins are coming to town, today (8 & 10). I'm not taking them to see it.

Thanks all for your input. I just made the call to her to let her know that he shouldn't see it - After which was a rant about how she couldn't believe they'd put Transformers in a PG-13 movie so that young kids couldn't see it.

    Parents just don't understand

    Thank again, everyone!

    And have fun!!!

Why is it PG-13? Because the MPAA have their heads up their rectal cavities. Theyre notoriously inconsistent and dont want to answer for their moronic decisions. Instead of the useless rating system we have now they or the studios should give people more details (like what youre asking for) and allow parents to make up their own minds about whether or not their little ones can handle it. (Of course therell have to be a disclaimer saying that no refunds are allowed if the parents misjudged the appropriateness of a movie for their kids.) The MPAA has been doing a crappy job of deciding what the cut-off age should be so how much worse can it be for parents to make that decision?

End of soapbox...now back to the regular thread.

Oh please kids can watch this alright. Yes there's sexual innuendo but come on kids learn about the reproductive system at the third or fourth grade. The worse part is probably the swearing which kids can find it funny and repeat it over and over.

I would take any child to see it. Yes, it has some mild language. MILD. Nothing kids today haven't already heard or said themselves when mom dad aren't around. What's wrong with taking your kid to see it then having a discussion about it afterwards? The sexual stuff they most likely won't even understand and the violence is there, but nothing real gory or over the top.

Wow, bit harsh? Note they're asking about somebody else's 7 year old child. I have a 5 y/o brother and sister that I was contemplating to taking to the movie, and I don't think I will becasue of the violence factor. Sure they watch some cartoony beat'em up stuff, but there's something about that transition to real life that's just a bit too much. Especially all the random building damage.
