My g/f asked me that question and that got me thinking...i'm gonna have to call my mom up and ask...

    My Name: Jonathan

it has nothing to do with a variation of my parents name...nor was it any ancestor's name...i guess they wanted something "American"

Because it was my father's name.

    And my father's father's name.

And my great grandmother didn't want to name her child "Cecil."

At first I was going to be named, Carmen after my grandmother on my dad's side of the family. Family politics got in the way, so my mom decided to choose another name. This one, Kristen she found while reading a book with two sisters in it. That's it. Nothing special. :lol

Eric....dont know why, never thought to ask.
Lonnie....my dads first name, a "version" of his dad's name

Most likely though, its because "Boy!" was too vague....although that was my name quite often when I was a child.

Because when my mom was pregnant with me, she was out somewhere and saw someone yelling at their kid, and amidst the shouting they said his name. She thought it was a good name.

    I shit you not.

    I was named after a street. :redface2:

Anthony is not a bad name to be stuck with, though.

They said "How can we make him like/do/appreciate art without encouraging him too much? Oh make his name the past tense of a form of art!"

I'm named after my dad. Nothing special.

My kids names though were all chosen carefully and all have specific meanings and/or are named after people we admire in history.

Depending on which parent I ask, I'm named after either Townshend or Maravitch.

For my real name, I was named after both of my Grandfathers.

My nickname, well... I have a few friends in Japan who couldn't quite say Harold correctly, so they called me Hiro instead of Harold.

Yet, technically (correct me if I'm wrong) there is no R in the Chinese language and it is really pronounced like a hard L or W?

As for my first name, Seane (pronounced like SEEN), I was named after a friend of my Dad's, Seane Titaneous. It is a Greek name, and I don't have ANY Greek in me unless I eat it (BTW, I LOVE Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food). My middle name was picked NOT because of the movie Shane, but because my parents liked it. Yeah, I've got a wonky name.

In Mandarin "R" is pretty prevalent. It's Cantonese that doesn't have "R."

I was supposed to be named Liam after Liam Neeson whom my mom loved but unfortunately for her she wasn't very lucid after my rather problematic birth and my dad named me after his father Frank.

It means "God is my judge," and my parents wanted me to reject judgment by anyone lesser.

Although my dad wonders if his support for the name wasn't subconsciously influenced by a recurring Isaac Asimov character with a similar but differently spelled name.

From a book my mum was reading.

My middle names would have been both of my grandad's name, but my dad disallowed both me and my sister to have middle name due to the fun with his.
