i am wondering why do ppl think that they shoudl of made the new transformers like the old ones this is the 21st century i think its about time for change i like the new look and i am ppretty sure that they woudl not look right if they were old style so i am glad it change cuz we are certainly no in the 80's anymore so yea i like them now
And so many people will flame you for that. LOL Lots will come and say something to the effect of "why can't you people understand that we don't want characters from the 80's we want recognizability!" blazay blah .... In reality, they are really stuck in the 80's, and want the 80's characters back. What they argue on is just how much of the 80's we should keep in this movie. They argue degree and hide it under the excuse "no we aren't stuck in the 80's!" Some want it to be mostly G1ish, others want a smaller percentage of it. Personally, I think this is the year 2007. And while I am a fan of G1, always have been, I wan't 0% aesthetic to be retained. As long as it keeps the PREMISE of being a Transformer, that is okay.
Actually dude, I'm one of the fans that enjoys G1 more than any other itteration. But I would never want the characters to be the same 80's vehicles. Those vehicles by todays standards are slow as piss. Accept for the Countach, which reaches 0-60 in 4.5 seconds...however that is almost common place in todays market of ultra expensive sports cars...(i.e. Bmw M's, Porsche, Lambo,)...However, yeah I will be honest...I wish the faces and bodies of the transformers HAD stayed closer to the original aesthetic. I'm not gonna apologize for it either, but I'm NOT stuck in the 80's....i'm only 22 and besides the Transformers I have everything about the 80's.
well i am glad they didnt keep anything from the eighties cuz like nuopus said its 2007 so it all shoudl be change even the face cuz if you look at it if they tranformers woudl ever do come back (saying they were real in real life) they probaby would not be the same not even there face its upgrade time ppl and i did notice how most ppl who said it was better to have g1 originals wernt even from the eighties
And that is what I mean .... those "bodies" just "look" 80's. I was 9 when the very first episode aired on TV. I grew up in that era. I also love everything about the "look" of things in this generation. I can tell you ... that "LOOK" screams 80's. If you put that lineup with other characters with a "modern" look, I could pick out the year. So yeah, I think, as far as taste goes ... you ARE stuck in the 80's. That is like me saying that I think a show should use the same tin robot from the black and white era because that is the best look for a robot, and turning around saying "I am not stuck in the 60's!" Give me a break, don't kid yourself.
Yes. I think someone should make a robot movie with robots that look like: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robby_the_Robot ... because I think that is the COOLEST look for a robot. I don't get why people think it is outdated I really don't! I'm not stuck in the 60's! REALLY I'm not!! Don't tell me that! Anyways, see my point? If I was from the 60's (or have taste from the 60's) I would think that design is modern. BUT, anyone else would see that as extremely outdated. I did grow up watching movies with that robot, but I will admit that it is an old look.
Totally agree man. I still have to laugh and shake my head that fans of something called TRANSFORMERS get so worked up when things CHANGE.
Ya. Oh well. I can't wait until the movie comes out. I will be there to see it opening night hopefully. I have gotten all of my students in my night class so worked up about the movie (all either very casual fans or not fans at all. none rabid fans) that all of them have said they will not be here on the day prior to release. I hope ... and there is a good chance of it, that I have that same class when movie time comes around because they will be in another class that I teach at that same time. Because if I do get that class, im also sure that I will be looking at an empty classroom and I will be able to go! LMAO!
This is the very first time I see this robot and I have to admit that the robot IS cool indeed It just reminds me of some characters from Astroboy manga that I read back in 80's.
First time seeing Robby? Ya I think he is a cool robot ... I grew up watching him too. As far as Astro Boy ... he was based on characters in the 60's (1963 exactly) too. You can pick out a design based on the generation. While not entirely the same, all robots from the 60's have the same "feel" to them. In the same vein, all of the designs from G1 have the same "feel" as robots in the 80's. You can just TELL that is where they came from. Astroboy came out as a new cartoon in 2003, but you can look at the new character still and say ... "hmmm ... that design is very much from the 60's!" We need a new look for the new characters. I don't want to be able to look at them and say ... "geee that looks like it came from the 80's" And if we got G1 aesthetic, that is EXACTLY how it would be ... like me looking at the new Astroboy thinking 1960's cartoon character.
I do hope someone releases an animated movie using the same style used in the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie though based on G1.
I don't really see a true G1 movie being a good idea. It reminds me of Batman fanatics who insist that the real Batman should be wearing tights while running around with a 12 year old boy in a green speedo and a live preserver. The most die-hard G1 supporters remind me of those Bat-fanatics. I just can't see the average movie goer accepting things like mass-shifting, and robots that Transform into over-simplified boxes. Many fans will insist that casual viewers WANT these things, but most casual movie goers haven't cared about the TFs for 20 years. Of course, that doesn't mean that people will embrace the insectoid/Bionicle look of the Movie either. Aesthetics are very subjective. This movie could very easily end up being a misfire like Lost in Space or Godzilla. Its simply too early to tell how audiences will react.
i think i am gettting missunderstood i am all for the change unless i am missunderstadning you guys i am gald they didnt make them like the 80's versions every time i see the trailers or watch them it just makes time seem so far away i want it to come out on dvd now
