Yeah but what are they going to do afterwards, they obviously plan to start and win this war, but what will this achieve? Do they actually have a motive for wanting to start a war?

    Power.

Optimus more or less told Fowler how Silas's words resembled something Megatron would say.

Aside from power, maybe it is change. Wars have been the source of great changes in the world. Governments are remade, leaders are replaced, economies can be re-established, old systems are broken.

If Silas starts a war, it would be easy for him to rebuild the world according to his own values or desires.

If Silas is like Megatron, then it would stand to reason that he too finds something he detests about the current state of the world. Something that he wants to change. After all, even Megatron is said to have started out with good intentions that steadily got corrupted.

When we first met Silas on screen he told us that there was a war brewing and that MECH intends to be on top of things, so why wouldn't he make his move once he had acquired the technology he and MECH had been seeking all this time? They were preparing for war before they appeared in Operation Convoy.

Why do I get this ugly feeling that they're basing MECH on Cerberus.....seriously the more I think about it, Silas is what the Illusive Man would be if he wore fatigues instead of a suit. That's the impression I'm getting, if he were in a more politically charged series he'd be a white supremiscist or something moustache twirlingly evil like that.

Hmm perhaps Silas was a veteran of far too many conflicts.

So comes the plan for the war...

    to end all wars.

You guessed it. Tryin to soil the Autobots' reputation on Earth. Look at the descriptions for the episodes coming after "Nemesis Prime".

MECH is the early form of Celestial Being and Nemesis Prime is their prototype Gundam. Yep.
