Why was Skywarp even "Unicronized"?

    When the Deceps retreat in the back of Astrotrain, Skywarp looks perfectly fine.

    I doubt he got hurt once inside Astro.

    Since Starscream died, maybe they should have kept Skywarp in toy production instead of Stars.

    But then that would mean Starscream would have been Cyclonus!

    If you watch some of the unused footage of the 86 TF Movie, in one of the trailers, it shows Skywarp taking a direct hit from one of the cannons of Autobot city. Maybe he had internal damage as well so he got dumped with the rest out of Astrotrain.

    Well let's hope they use that footage in the next re-release.

    Your memory is a bit off, we didnt see Skywarp enter Astrotrain.

    that was Thundercracker that entered running and looking fine.

    we only saw Warp at a distance, and we really cant tell if hes ok or not.

    Bombshell would still be Cyclonus.

    So Starscream would have been Armada.

    It was probably never "finished" to the same quality they'd need to include it, but it would be great for another version to have a conclusive reel of all the storyboards, pre-release trailer footage, and variations that were never used.

    You're right about Thundercracker, but Skywarp was well enough to run on his own.

    Skywarp was just stupid enough to believe everyone when they told him he was hurt.

    I like this theory. In fact, he probably crashed into a meteorite or something right off screen immediately after being changed into Armada.

    If Starscream replaced Skywarp in that scene, it is not known that Unicron would still pick Bombshell to be Cyclonus and Starscream to be Armada. Unicron would have a 50-50 chance still. Just because you swap Skywarp out with Starscream does not mean that Unicron would still make the same choice about who becomes Cyclonus and who becomes Armada as he did in the 86 movie. That's a bit of a jump in logic.

    But would toy sales have increased in 1986 with that swap?

    Given your obsession with correcting others for making assumptions about this silly cartoon show, you cannot "conclusively" prove that Bombshell became Cyclonus. Too often, you've berated others (most recently in the Megatron & Constructicons flashback scenes from FFOD) for assuming authorial intent without absolute concrete proof... and now you've just done it :)

    (For the record, I also think Bombshell became Cyclonus, but I had to call you out on this. No doubt you have a retort besides "whoops, you're right"...)

    Skywarp comes back to life every time a new toy model of him is reissued.

    I prefer to call Cyclonus' Armada "animation error".

    The Armada were the three of Reflector considering Reflector was an original "More than Meets the Eye" Decep who we never saw again in Season 3.

    Scourge = Thundercracker
    Sweeps = Insecticons
    Cyclonus = Skywarp
    Armada = Reflector

    Skywarp was the coolest-looking seeker with the coolest special power. They should have kept him in the toy assortment in 1986 and not have killed him off in the movie. Hell, they should have had a season three rivalry between Skywarp, Cyclonus and Soundwave for second-in-command. If he had shipped in 86, I would definitely have spent my allowance on him instead of settling for Starscream.

    I agree, he didn't need to be Unicronized. Good topic.

    but skywarp was a moron. looked cool, great power, but dumb as a brick. no way he would have been a contender for second in command.

    Just out of curiousity, at what point was Cyclonus ever shown to have been a genius?
