Why was Blackout chosen to get a toy and not Strika?

Seeing how Rodimus is the leader of his group and he got a toy, I was wondering why Strika didn't.

    Um... in b4 sexism jokes?

Honestly, I have no idea, other than Blackout may be easier to sell, since he was in the movie.

Probably this. Especially with all the new Blackout stuff coming out for what seems to be no reason. It could've also been trademark issues.

Because he is the fucking ownage.

But really, Oil Slick already has a toy, Cyclonus has a Universe figure, Strika is a chick (they don't sell well), and Spittor is just to FUCKING AWESOME to get a toy. The planet would explode.

When was this ever said? I know in Japan females don't sell as well, (which has led to characters like Airrazor and Override to have gender changes over the seas) but I've never heard of any issues over here.

It's the entire reason Hasbro never made a Scarlett figure for Sigma 6. They stated it SEVERAL times and the same goes for Transformers and any boy action figure line.

Funny, I've never heard that before. Makes sense, but still, I don't think "because she's a chick" was the only reason, or even one of the main ones, especially since she's only a girl (a very MANLY girl) because they call her that. :lol  (not that that's a bad thing, she was manly in BM, too)

Strika probably didn't get a figure for a combination of the following reasons:

    - Female character
    - No screen time, not recognizable to a kid like a movie-esque Blackout is
    - Helicopters rule, strange funny looking barreling vehicles do not rule

If you were Hasbro, and you had to release a character that would appeal to the largest audience, would you pick Strika from your most failed toyline (Beast Machines), or Blackout, referencing your most successful toyline ever?

BM was the most failed toyline? I thought that was MW, or G2. One of those post-G1 pre-BW things. Anyway, I already said I agree, what more do you want?

He wants everyone to understand WHY hasbro do what they do, so instead of saying "HURR HASBLOW SUX THWY HEAT FANS" people say "I may be dissapointed that hasbro isnt making Strika, but I can see why they arent."

As unfair as it seems, what old Kicker is saying is pretty much true. It's something I've noticed in toy lines for as long back as I can remember. With only the few rare exceptions now and then.

If you really need a Strika figure, just track down one from the Beast Machines line. Art style aside, the character design is pretty much the same. I think it may even come in scale pretty close to voyager Lugnut.

Yeah, that seems about right. unfortunately, most of the fans who do understand that already understand and probably guessed as much, but the fans who are like that ("HURR HASBLOW") aren't going to care anyway, since they hate Hasbro for having cancelled Animated, not making Leader Lugnut and Movie Devastator r a Tonka toy. :/

Cause Blackout would of destroyed Hasbro HQ if they didn't.

Strika has a toy and it is the right height when standing next to the Lugnut toy, plus it sorta actually fits in anyways if you have the original version, sadly i only have the original universe version of that mold and that cool paint ap doesnt fit in too well with the animated style.

BM is a shame if compared to its predecessor, the BW. Hence, I think it's short series span explains much.

Well apart from the obvious that he's in the movie and its a recognisable name, even I being a girl have to admit it's because shes a female character.

Although that said I think Strika would have sold better than than Black arachnia has done.
BA has suffered for a number of reasons,
    - shes a girl - boys don't like to play with toys of girls
    - she turns into a spider - Animal transformers in a car transfomers range are not going to be as popular with boys
    - Shes not had much screen time int the cartoon

Arcee will probably suffer heavily too
    - Shes a Girl
    - Shes Pink - little boys won't want pink toys

SO why would Strika sell better?
    - Yeah shes a girl, but really doesn't look it in bot mode (where its kinda obvious with BA and Arcee)
    - She turns into a big honking 6 wheeled battle vehicle so lots of battle play
    - her colour scheme isn't girly
    - she'd be a big chunk of plastic...people like to get more for their money

The question about female transformers and why there aren't many as toys is easliy answered away with the old 'they don't sell cos boys don't want girl toys' but is that true?

    What about Cybertron Override?
    Was that a shelf warmer?
Are there any other examples of female transformers selling badly?

What would be interesting is for Hasbro to release Strika and the female Starscream/Femmescream/Susan as toys .
    - Both have boy appealing alt modes (big honking space truck and a jet fighter)
    - Both have non girly colour schemes
    - Both would appear as value for money to parents

I do think they're going to have problems with Arcee purely based on the fact shes pink.

Hmm... Well Arcee is not going to be the bright pink she is on the show plus she has ninja swords. Ninja anything sells well with boys. And everyone keeps saying BA was a bad seller but I see more Lockdowns and Ratchets than anything else and so by the repetitive logic that girls don`t sell your also saying Old men and Bounty Hunters are also flops?
As for Strika they said 90% of the characters would receive toys and the whole canceled BS is just a rumor, so we will probably see her figure later on.
