I never did like minicons in any form since RID but why have the minicons instead of minibots like Cliffjumper, BB, Huffer ect like in the original releases?

Because minicons are popular with kids and have sold well in the past

Contrary to popular belief, Hasbro DOES need to make products that appeal to a wide range of demographics and pricepoints, and minicons fill the kid liked, sub-$10 quota.

Classics is a tribute to G1, but Hasbro never once said they would follow G1 to the letter, and the realities of the toy market often dictate things that fans don't like or want

I'm guessing because the classics line is a filler line not only retro G1 figures are included. I have no clue why people can't understand that just because minicons are in the classics line doesn't mean that they are a part of it.(as in the toys are NOT related; think universe)

    Thanx

Also, consider... Cybertron is ending... and Classics will be, until the movie, the "Main line"... So Classics is the headline to put them under. And really... I don't have many, but minicons are freakin' cool. They're like micromasters, with better transformations and hella more articulation. I'm glad they keep making em.

I love my Minicons, the more the better, especially when they're all new. Just because the core figures in Classics are G1 based doesn't mean there isn't room for what's been successful elsewhere. It's a line meant to bring out what we've enjoyed most, not just in great quality figures and G1 history being used, but in new kinds of Transformers, small but fun to have a lot of and a place where they can give us new types and styles of Transformers while giving us such a big G1 helping.

"Classics" is just a catch-all line for virtually everything coming out between now and the movie; it's not restricted to only the G1 updates. And I'm rather happy with the release of more Minicons, especially the beasts.

Spychangers. Kind of a halfway point between Micromasters and minicons. And given by how many different ways they seem to have released them they probably sold pretty well.

Looking at my giant planet minicon team.....Looking at my gerbils......Looking at my minicons again.....back to the gerbils......Ehm can't realy see the connection.

But Minicons rule. They're small and mostly durable enough to go in your pocket.
(and if they broke they're not to expensive to replace)

If you want to get technical, the mini-cons being released are in classics-style packaging only. Much like the DVD 20th Prime and Reissue soundwave are in classics-style packaging. Nowhere on the packaging for any of these items does it say classics. So to refer to them as classics minicons is rather inaccurate.

Nvm. I just looked at Hasbro's site and it plain as day calls them "classic mini-cons"
