i used to love them as a kid, and apart from the toy being able to transform its what people not into transformers remember them by.

I doubt people who aren't into transformers even know what rub signs are, let alone remember them.

I have no issue with them. It's a nice concept, but the black, non-activated symbol kinda bothers me. Not enough to complain about it though.

I don't like them. Not exactly hate, but that was really my only option. Generally, I really prefer a static insignia.

I'm ok with them but maybe it's just within that period of time in the 80's, ppl changed & taste in things they like have changed too.

They're cool when they really work. But I find most of them don't work well. Plus, I find where they are typically placed on the figure look's ugly. I have the tendency to just remove all the rub-signs and stick with the normal insignia.

Since my figures are usually on display or in storage, and not handled, I'd rather see the proper faction insignia than a black spot.

They disguise their form, and they disguise their allegiance.

I love the rub symbol. Classics had it right - no other sigil needed.

I hate them, they're unsightly and make figures look disjointed in say a classic display where some have symbols and others don't. I know the characters, I know their allegiance, it's a stupid gimmick imo.

As a result to this, does anyone know if you peal off the rub sign if it damages the figures paint job ? Or is there paint underneath the rub sign?

I like them. But then again I love g1, so it may be a nostalgia thing. I bet all the people who got into transformers after g1 don't prefer them.

The soapy water wipes it away does it? Is there paint underneath the rub signs? Like I'm not going to be left with a spot on the figure?

On G1 reissues, they have their place.

Putting them on Generations toys that are shoehorned into Reveal the Shield is a different story.

It's already blatantly obvious who most of those toys are since they're designed as tributes.

So why replace a stamped faction logo with a rubsign?

As long as they are not the primary symbol, I'm ok with them

Personally I'm okay with them in their alt-modes, but I prefer them to have static symbols in robot mode.

i love them, but this is also true, and i don't really like the new ones without the silver lining, universe sideswipe looks really good with one added to his roof ( had an extra sticker from a custom) and when he's in bot mode, the regular symbol is revealed anyways

It depends if the rub sign is on a painted surface or molded plastic. You should be fine with just soap/warm water, though.
