The big problem with The Fallen was he had very little explanation or exposition on exactly who or what he was. The story was crowded enough without throwing him in - you could, quite easily, take The Fallen out of Revenge of the Fallen altogether and not affect the plot too much:

1) The meeting with the Fallen at Nemesis - have it be Megatron meeting Starscream alone and hatching the plan to use some long-lost Cybertron tech buried on Earth instead.
2) The broadcast to the Earth - have it be Megatron instead. He wants Sam as Sam has the Allspark knowledge and with it the means to activate the harvester.
3) The finale - have Megatron snatch the Matrix in The Fallen's place, then have the final fight be pure Optimus VS Megatron again, except it ends when Megatron gets half his face blown off because Starscream shows up with a missile strike to hold Optimus off for long enough to make Megatron escape.


There you go, de-Fallened Revenge of the Fallen.


That's why I personally dislike the way The Fallen was handled - he was basically secondary to the whole film, and was only really there so Optimus Prime could kill a big villain at the end. The Fallen is meant to be so much more than a throwaway villain - he's meant to be an ancient evil, a direct creation of Primus himself and all that.

 

His design and voice were awesome..... But the "Only a prime can kill him" thing was so lame and had so much plot holes. Also, he barely had screentime and he got killed in 10 seconds.....

 

They should've made the Fallen an avatar of Unicron.

After the end credits of RotF they could've repeated clips of the Fallen as he fought Optimus and got defeated, and then as he dies the camera zooms up away from Earth, through space, and then rushes into a shadowy metal planet to a core bank of screens replaying the Fallen's demise. Then just like Unicron roared in the 1986 movie when he saw the Matrix passed to Ultra Magnus on his core screens this planet could roar as well as the screen cuts abruptly to black.
Then you leave that mysterious planet alone for the whole of DotM as if it's been forgotten, and then have Unicron turn up on Earth's doorstep in TF4 (since it would take a while for him to make the journey) and rebuild Megatron into Galvatron (and maybe Starscream into Cyclonus) and then on with the show.

Heck, they could still have the Fallen death scene and rush to roaring Unicron as the opener tease scene for TF4 before they move onto some comedy nonsense about Sam having a hang-nail before Unicron arrives at Earth an hour into the film and the shit hits the fan (and I don't mean Transformers fan).

As it was, the Fallen in RotF was wasted potential.

 

There was that feeling that there really wasn't anything he did that would not have been cooler if it had been done by another character.

Instead of the Fallen is Magneto to clear out the humans around the Pyramid it would have been so much cooler for Devastator to have taken out those troops. If Devastator had swatter away all that fire power like it was nothing then the rail gun would have felt like a big deal.

If Megatron had the key to activate the sun harvester then it would have been a fun way to make Megatron a more evil character as he attempts to gain even more power while trying to wipe out humanity for what they did to him in the first movie.

Starscream attacking the aircraft carrier with the Constucticons would have made it felt like Starscream actually did something in Revenge of the Fallen.

So I agree there is nothing the Fallen did that other bots already in the film could not have done better.

 

He was a waste of CGI. And he was kinda pathetic too. As someone else once posted in the forums about The Fallen, "He was all fart but no poo."

 

"Only a Prime can defeat the Fallen."

Spends half the film re-couperating his wounds, once Optimus dies he should have made his strike on Earth. Instead he shows up only after Optimus Prime returns from the dead and is easily killed once Optimus and Jetfire link up.

What they should have done was have the Fallen arrive on Earth and going all Magneto on the pyramid before Optimus Prime was activated and once Optimus Prime retunrs to the living he and the Fallen fight but the Fallen has the upper hand. Then Jetfire arrives to sacrifice himself to defeat the Fallen and then it's a equal match and Optimus Prime gets the upperhand on the Fallen once Megatron distracts the Fallen telling him off after finding out the Fallen forced Megatron to work for him and now gain the powers of a Prime. Also no give me your face. I rise, you fall is good enough.

Revenge of the Fallen, Who was he trying to get his revenge on? Oh right us!

 

I liked the design of the character, his powers were awesome, and his voice was very fitting. But what I didn't like;

- He outranked Megatron. At the very most, he should've been Megatron's equal, claiming to help Megatron in his goal to rule the universe.

- He died to too quickly. That whole fight lasted literally two and a half minutes. and a good thirty-fourty seconds of that was spent of Megatron being blown to bits. No matter what, he's meant to be this demi-God type thing. He should be more powerful.

- The whole "Only a Prime can defeat the Fallen" was never really explained. Of course, that's more of an argument with the plot then the Fallen himself.

But yeah, the concept was cool. But it just didn't live up to it's potential.

The final battle was clearly rushed. The CGI is at its weakest in the final fight, too. Even Michael Bay himself apologises for it on the commentary track on the DVD. A shame. Could have been another epic forest battle-type scene.

 

Fallen is just an Alien to me,he can jolly well be in the World of Alien & Predator,why is he even appearing in TF movie?
