We've seen virtually every Universe/Classics figure remade into a Henkei figure except on of the big ones. Ultra Magnus.

The original Classics Ultra Magnus was a good figure but, it left alot to be desired. The paint job wasn't that great and it didn't even match the awesome paint job on the original packaging. This and the fact that it was just another straight up repaint of Optimus Prime made the City Commander armor necessary.

WTS Why haven't we seen what Takara can do with Classics Ultra Magnus? Why do you think they haven't made a Henkei Ultra Magnus yet? It would be greta to see what kind of paint apps and chrome Takara would add to Magnus. Plus, it would be a great thing to get an improved Magnus for those of us who missed out on City Commander.

So, why do you think we haven't seen this figure from Takata yet? In your opinion, will we ever see it?

Anyways, I have always wondered that myself. Maybe they will release it as an overpriced store exclusive in the future.

On Ultra Magnus, Tak/To also hasn't released a version of Two pack deluxe Prime. Conincidence?

Actually, they don't seem to be that big on repaints in the Classics/Universe line (apart from Prime). Maybe repaints don't sell as well in Japan?

 

What makes you think the Takara UM wouldn't be just another straight, white and blue repaint of Classics prime too? They most certainly would not make anything like the City Commander set to go with it, that's for sure.

I understand that. I don't expect Takara to release an UM that's anywhere close to City Commander. I can see them releasing an UM with a paintjob closer to the box art on Classics UM or closer to Classics UM with the reprolabels applied.

 

As was I, and preferably with a new head, ah well.

 

Actually that Prime was first released in Japan as part of the Robot Masters line. Probably about a year before it came out in the US.

Actually they're two totally different molds, they simply share a similar Transformation (as do most Primes)

robot masters convoy and the deluxe classics prime, aside from sharing a transformation, are really nothing alike.

Maybe takara isnt releasing it because they're finally tired of repainting convoys?

 

Sadly true. The RM Convoy is far superior.

BWHAA HAA HAA HAA HAA!  Takara get tired of repainting Convoy? Hoo, that's a good one.   Hell, there's what, three versions of Alternity Convoy planned already?

 

Instead they're putting Mickey ears on him, hoho! Maybe they're just not releasing Magnus because they can't call him "Convoy Magnus Version"

 

Nope different molds. They just share some of the same engineering.
