Wait, is this like when he "died" and created alternate personalities to fight crime with?

Who wants to bet that this will somehow undo the whole "One More Day" thing.

I mean think about it. Spider-Man....Death.....Mephisto.....they can go together.

I think the more pressing question is "Why must everyone in comics not stay dead?"

And with Spider-Man 4 coming to cinemas in 2012 I predict he'll stay dead for precisely 9 months at the most.

Because its "dramatic", its "violent", its "a change in the status quo".... i.e. the writers are talentless hacks that can't write stories so they take the easy out in the form of an event. Then try to undo it.

This is why I like Peter David as a writer; its comedy, its tragedy and its melodrama but there are no cheap tricks, just good stories and changes in the status quo are exactly that.

I think the better question is "why must fan go into uncontrollable rages ever they see previews for comics"? I have no idea what this story is gonna be about, but I guess it's reason enough for blind seething hate.

Dude, Peter David did exactly that to Aquaman during his run on that title.

And the sad part is people will go running out to the local comic shop to pick up the issue he dies in because they think it will be an investment....

I'm not a DC guy, but his Hulk and X-Factor stories have been great with evolving characters and real stories, not gimmicks. This vampire and zombie motif is also pretty lame.

Haha... I saw that promo on the Newsarama website and immediately thought, "I bet all the Marvel haters at TFW are bitching about this right now." I guess I was semi-right about that.

Anyways, I highly doubt that they are planning to kill off Spiderman, it probably has something to do with something else. They just finished BND and are taking the series into a new format and new direction, I doubt they'd do all that just to kill him off 4 months later.

It worked SO WELL for Superman that everyone wants a shot. My G-d, that event was so huge that the Reign of the Superman storyline, with the four new Supermen, led Entertainment Tonight coverage for days. Teaser art from a comic book opened ET. That storyline ran for months, with each new event making the mainstream entertainment media.

Batman didn't even rate that coverage when his back was broken or when Dick Grayson became Batman. Now, Joe Q has to unmask Peter Parker and blow a NYPost editor for a single day's coverage, and only because the movies were mainstream hits does anyone care for that day.

he's not gonna die. its just a marketing campaign to get people back in, now that BND is over. Batman R.I.P he didn't die either its just a name of a story line. It more symbolic than literal.

Probably has something to do with that new costume we seen images for a few months back, and that rumour of him joining the Fantastic Four. In FF the current "Three" story line is supposed to end with one of them dying. So Spidey could be the new fourth member.
