Like the topic says...I was watching Eureka the other night, and after it ended, stupid wrestling comes on! On SciFi? What the hell is so SciFi about wrestling?

First they start playing live-action shows on cartoon network, and now this. I don't get it.

I'll answer it here, but there is a wrestling thread that would be a good spot for this.

WWE was looking for a network to show its re-established ECW promotion. Sci-Fi was the only station that showed interest, and the WWE had limited options due to their contract with USA network's Parent company NBC Universal.

So it makes no sense, but USA was really the only other station to put ECW on, and they didn't want WWE and ECW to turn USA into "The wrestling station"

Sadly it's a lose lose situation with Sci-Fi pushing their "Content Ideas" on the show and ECW really having no place on there. Oh well I just watch old ECW shows on 24/7

The Toonami channel over here has been massively fucked up by replacing a huge amount of cartoons with live action rubbish. The channel name now makes almost no sense at all...

First I thought it was gonna be a Sci-Fi spoof show, lwith cg effects added in post production, like eyebeam lasers and energy blasts and wrestling alien creatures and whatnot.

    Man, I was severely disappointed.

Oh that's coming next week. Just wait.

Sci-Fi needed a show to boost ratings, and like Shin said, they are trying to pathetically incorporate Sci-Fi elements into the show so everyone doesn't have the same "WTF? Wrestling on Sci-Fi?!" reaction.

It is hard to watch. As dumb as wrestling can be, it's even dumber when they are forced to incorporate "Zombies and Vampires" into the shows. But it seems to be working for Sci-Fi. They are getting high enough ratings, and haven't disgusted too many Sci-Fi fans yet.

I would by a TiVo just to watch a show like that. And the complete seasons on dvd.

Seriously, Sci-Fi needs to register on these boards and steal my idea. I wouldn't even be mad or expect to get credit.

All the elements are already in place, too: carefully staged and choreographed fights, actors with large, muscular builds, ridiculous spandex costumes, and larger-than-life personalities.

I wish it would get off the sci-fi channel with it not being sci-fi and all.

That would be Kaiju Big Battel, playing on G4 during Action Blast in the mornings. I love KBB, but need more fight DVDs from them.

Wonderful. First, Cartoon Network started to show live-action. Then, G4 was more Spike TV than a video game channel. Now, Sci-Fi gets wrestling.

What's next? Nickelodeon becoming a porno channel? :redface2:

I already have a show idea. It's called "Spongebob Tightpants". It's about a contraceptive sponge that gets into many silly predicaments.

Yeah, it's kind of funny. Fans of SciFi are angry that wresting isn't very scientifically ficticious (for lack of a better term), even with a vampire guy. And old ECW fans are upset that SciFi and WWE have completely different plans in contrast to the ECW of old, so no one's really happy.

Still, it's been the first thing I've ever watched on SciFi since MST3K went off the air.

Exactly, so it must be doing something right.

One hour less of Stargate reruns won't hurt any of you.

thats like saying getting rid of all these crap reality shows get off Music Television (and now Music Television 2) seeing that most has nothing to do with music (actually get rid of it all - especially P. Duddy's show)....but it wont cause it brings in ratings (something that they really need and want)

and the only thing that i ever watched on Sci-Fi was "Unsolved Mysteries"

We're talking professional wrestling, right? I suppose it's a hard call to peg into a genre, but fantasy or science fiction seems the closest.
