DC didn't buy the Transformers comic license, because they were confused on how to fit it in to their continuity, which is a tad silly, and I believe this is as far as it got to. (Right, that's what I remember reading when this first showed up.)

Yeah as far as i herd it was the re-branding that screwed it up.

Eh it's hard to do well just look at the Avengers/Transformers cross over.

If I remember correctly, it was in part nixed due to DC doing their big 'New 52' relaunch at the time, and not wanting to muddy things up with a big crossover and stuff.

I'm glad. I liked DC more when I was a kid.

I've seen that picture before. I thought I read somewhere that it is just fan art... not anything official.

No it's official (well except for the mother of god part at the bottom) it's from a pitch for a potential dc/transformers crossover that never really got off the ground

DC lost all claim to having anything resembling even a beer goggle version of continuity when they foisted that New 52 cr@p on us. Still, done by the creative team behind JLA/Avengers and set pre-New52 this would have been awesome. I would have loved to see Orin and Seaspray team up against a Masterforce-style army of Seacons . . . and win.

I just recently read about this. The artist, back then working at DC, stated that he did this as part of a pitch to DC since he liked Transformers and thought it would be a cool crossover. But DC rejected the idea. Nothing more.

There are also more pictures that he did for the pitch.

I like this, because it seems to imply that Superman teams up with Megatron and Unicron.

Oh, come on. Such hysterics? The New 52 'relaunch' is no different than Crisis back in the mid-1980s.

In principle yes, but the in old post Crisis relaunch, they had a lot of good creators on their books. Can't say the same now - a lot of the stuff is just unreadable.

And probably because when push come to shove, TFs are weaker than most DC heroes. I don´t think Megs or Optimus would last long against the likes of Doomsday or Superman, and with the weird tech running around DC Earth... yeah, there would be a lot of buthurted TF fans....

Yep, it's really hard for them to mix. It's why Avengers/TF was such a bad read.
