Because it was a very limited run, and was the now famed FansProject's first custom item.

Because the Cliffjumper upgrade kit is exceedingly rare; something like only 80 of them were made.

Actually, according to the link, 300 were made, so $350 for this thing dos seem high, but if people are paying it, then I guess it's not.

rarity and demand and there have been no rumors of another production run.
hell Im not sure anyone but fansproject knows if the molds even exist any more.

That said to me its not worth that price and still wouldn't be even if i had Cliffjumper

I'm with Draven, the reverse engineered kit is awful quality, I bought one and during an attempted fitting it fell apart, that being said an original isnt worth $350 either :)

There's high demand: everyone wants to differentiate their Cliffjumper from their Bumblebee.

There's low supply: as said earlier, only 300 sets were made and FP has no plans or intentions to put this through a second production run.

And yeah, I wouldn't plan on getting the KO kit unless you want to put a little work into it. Just like any other knock-off, I don't expect it to be "shelf ready."

Just to note though, I believe FP originally offered the kit for about $30, and insane demand skyrocketed it to peak around $300-$350 on eBay. I believe the last time I saw a legit one on eBay, it went closer to $150.

It's a cool little kit for sure, but compared to all the third party kits out there, even $30 is a bit high IMO.

I bought one....the only thing to watch for is the replacement bumpers, they tend to break very easily since there are very thin pieces on it. I've had to reglue it several times. The head and the spoiler are just fine.

I wish they'd reissue this set as well. I'd buy it in a heartbeat if it weren't so ridiculously priced.

That is not by FP. The Cliffjumper kits were each numbered out of 300, making a true limited run. So unless the Starscream kit comes with a numbered card or something, its only limited until TFSource sells out of them.

FansProject have stated publicly, time after time, that the Cliffjumper kit will never by reissued. The mold is gone, and they have bigger projects to worry about.

To clear up your facts.. The original members that went on to become part of FansProject, created the kits. That is all they did. The Cliffjumper kits were a joint venture between them and some asian TF clubs. The creators never sold the kits to fans. But they intended to have them be sold at $30.00 each. The clubs took care of the selling to the fans, for the most part. Once the kits left the creator's hands, they had no control of what sellers charged.

The kit was intended for members in the asian TF clubs, like TFClub, and HK-TF. 300 kits were made. Each kit has a numbered card out of 300. The creators never intended the kits to be sold to non-club members. That was why they only made 300, and made each one numbered.
