Let me just say that yes, I'm MILDLY disappointed about the size of MP Grimlock. WTS, I'll reserve judgement on the size of the figure until we see an actual prototype in a side-by-side scale comparison with another figure.

Also, something occurred to me. Takara isn't trying to be a pain in the ass, or shortsighted. They're not trying to neglect the fans wishes either when it comes to figure scale.

IMO they left the 12" scale to the two most supreme characters in G1 history, Prime and Megatron and rightfully so. Every other character is smaller in stature when it comes to their meaning in the TF universe. Therefore, Prime and Megs stand above the rest of the MP line. I think Takara gave these two characters the larger figures because of this. Sure, Ultra Magnus is the same size but, that's just because he's a repaint.

What if Takara did this deliberately?.......IMO SO WHAT. Maybe they want to have different size classes within the MP line and gave the Supreme size class to the two most important characters.

What do you thnk? THANKS for posting!!

    I thought size didn't matter...

I don't care how big it is as long as it is awesome.

Yes, The text that came with the latest scan of MP Grimlock say he's the size of MP Starscream.

I'll believe it when I see the prototype.

That's just F'n lame! While I will buy it, the scale change is retarded. GRIMLOCK IS BIGGER THEN PRIME! Why pay homage to G1 figures if you're going to ignore the scale? At this rate MP Bumblebee will be the biggest MP ever.

As long as its cool, I'm fine with it being the size of Starscream. I'd like to see it a few inches bigger than Prime, but I'm more concerned with the quality of the figure.

That is so cool! He will stand in perfectly as a Ultra in my classics collection!

Just the way he should be.

I think he'll fit in perfectly with my classics. I honestly can't wait. The size of him isn't that important to me.

While I personally don't have an issue with his size, I understand why some may be a bit put off by it. Traditionally Grimlock is supposed to be larger than both Prime and Megs, and wanting the MP Grimlock to keep this scale isn't all that surprising. Then again I wouldn't doubt that there are some people complaining just so they can complain. Something that happens with pretty much every detail with Transformers.

On a side note, here's the rough size comparison I did with Classics Voyager Optimus Prime:

Personally I'd be happy if he was about that size, as he would fit perfectly with the rest of my Classics Autobots.

That'd be fine if they had different price points. But considering how simplistic Grimlock's transformation traditionally is, and how much they are charging for him, he needs to be BIG to justify that cost. Otherwise he's little more than an Alternity dinosaur.
I'll repeat what I said in another thread about this:

Call me crazy, but isn't ignoring the scale the perfect way to pay homage to G1 figures?

If he were to be the size of MP Starscream why is the price so much more than the MP seekers?

I'm going to go ahead and point out that Starscream's size is the same as Megatron and Primes. The mode:size ratio is merely flipped due to how huge a jet fighter is compare to a truck. Starscream's jet mode rivals Prime and Megatron's robot mode, and vice versa. With good reason - a robot mode at the same scale would make Starscream an unweildy size in jet mode, and signifigantly more expensive.

So saying that Grimlock is the size of Starscream does not, necessarily, mean he has an 8" robot mode. That may mean the overall scale of the toy, using Starscream as a general reference for MP figures. Or it may mean the largest measured mode. Grimlock's dino mode is also more compact than his robot mode, meaning the robot mode could be around a foot, the dino mode around 8-9 inches, and still be called Starscream's size.

    Wait for proper pictures.

No worries here. He'll either fit in with the Masterpiece line or the Classics line, so it's all good.
