Shouldn't he be Megatron colors?
What does this have to do with things on ebay?
They swapped factions, this doesn't mean they need to take on the colors of their rivals.
Yes, this should be moved to toy discussion.
I believe he was purple because his normal colors of red is the same as the autobot symbol colors whereas the normal decepticon symbol is purple. Further, Motormaster, our resident Decepticon big rig is purple. Ish.
Probably because that's what the color of the Autobot symbol of the SG Autobots is. Normal Prime's main body color is red, and so is the normal Autobot symbol. The SG colors have the colors switched, so the evil Autobot color is now Purple, and so Prime's main color was switched as well.
I used to think it was based of Galvatron's scheme, until I realized the total lack of orange on the toy.
Moved to correct forum.
He's purple because he's evil. Or something.
I dunno, It looks good.
Purple visually is a corrupted red. Also, purple is the Decepticon colour, vs red for the Autobots, so that part makes sense.
Mostly, I like the way the colours were those of the regular Optimus, made a couple of shades darker and more muted.
Because he's the pimp.
These are all equally valid and correct answers.
SG Megatron was a variation on his own color scheme, rather than having Prime's colors, so why would Prime have Megs' colors too?
In TF perspective
RED = Good
PURPLE = Evil
I always thought:
Prime = Galvatron
Starcream = Jetfire
Wheeljack = Slicer
Grimlock = Trypticon
Shattered Glass color schemes don't follow some rule that the color schemes will mirror the opposite of that bot/con. For example SG Soundwave is almost completely white since it uses the Musiclabel Sonic White Soundwave.
Since G1 Prime is red (the Autobot color), SG Prime is purple (the Decepticon/SG Autobot color). Besides, Prime isn't Galvatron's opposite, Ultra Magnus is.
Motormaster actually has very little purple on him. Just his windows and the trailer stripe are purple, everything else is black and grey.
Anyway, the best or closest approximation to a correct answer was given- purple is regarded as the Decepticon color, and their leader wears it loud and proud.
Though a Megatron-colored Optimus doesn't sound half bad.
... because black and teal would be too obvious.
(and done already)
Take primes normal paint scheme.
Blue + Red = Purple
Because that's what FP wanted him to look like.
If he was white, he would look like Ultra Magnus and noone would buy him, complaining he's just the same repaint everyone already has.
Yeah most Shattered Glass characters' colors fit into a few categories.
- Same as G1
- Evil Version of Original Scheme
- Rival's / Opposite Team's Equivalent's Colors
- New Colors
- Repurposed Figures (Whatever they original figure is)
Thanks for all the answers (and apologies for wrong forum, meant to post here). I do like the faction symbol color reason. Thanks!
Shattered Glass Prime is supposed to the opposite of his usual self.
Shattered Glass Prime=Purple
IMO Because Optimus Prime is the same color as the Autobot Symbol itself, his opposite would be purple because that's the color of the Decepticon logo.
