Well I recently picked up a G1 Roadbuster, I paid $50 total for it. I got it today and since I got it I've dumped about $50 for Parts for him and I'm just wondering why he's quite hard to get complete.

Mostly I use ebay for parts, and I find that they're trying to sell the antenna and the smaller parts for crazy amounts.

Just wondering if any of you have run this route to restore your G1 Roadbuster and run into this.

probably cuz he had so many parts. The more parts = the more to lose.

Because there are a lot of parts that get lost/damaged.

Antenna & smaller parts go for crazy amounts because they're more easily lost/damaged, so demand exceeds supply by more for those parts.

Yeah, I said screw the antenna on mine. It's not worth eBay prices to have a little plastic stick.

Still spending $50 for the Figure, and then $50 just to a bulk of his parts.....that's $100 alone just for this figure....

He's a decent looking figure, but why they had to give him so many parts......

At least I got him and waiting on my G1 Whirl, which I had to spend about $35 on parts for that....

I can find the wheel cover armor pretty cheap, the backpack parts maybe cheap, and the gun and launcher but the antenna is expensive as heck....

yeah, luckily I got mine with the range finger on the gun and 2 of the wheel covers. i'm only missing the antenna, both handle bars and the rockets, which I don't need. Overall, he is a fantastic looking figure and probably the best incarnation we'll ever get.

Part of the reason may be that it was a "Hasbro" only TF.

Yes the toy was originally a Japanese toy, in different colors, but it was never released by Takara as part of the TF line up.

G1 Roadbuster, Whirl, Jetfire & the 4 deluxe Insecticons were originally Takatoku toys.

Some of those figs came with alot of accessories.

Good thing then I picked up Whirl from teh same guy I got Roadbuster from.

Seems like Whirl's parts are easier to find than Roadbusters are.....

    Ebay:
i got a complete Whirl w/tech specs, manual for $40 shipped. But that was after 5 months of near daily eBay shopping.

I was never a fan of roadbuster just because of the parts. his bot mode is cool, though.

I have two Roadbusters and two Whirls from when I was a kid. The problem is that they were some of my favourites and have been played to death. I would love some reissues of theses. Back in G1 I think that Roadbuster was one of the heaviest armed Auotbots, so he inevitably ended up in most battles. Whirl was also very susceptible to UV damage if on display in a sunny spot.

I didn't get my Roadbuster fully complete, but I figure at his current status when I get the parts he'll be 75% complete maybe.

I plan on selling him tho...he's an ok looking figure, but yeah he has too many parts.

There won't be reissues of either for the same reason as no reissue of Jetfire some one else owns the molds if they even still exist. Bandai controls all 3 in this case.
