So I was watching the latest Rooster Teeth Animated Adventure on youtube today which told the story of how Burnie punched a poor horse because it bit his wife because of her own stupidity. Personally I thought this was not funny and ill spirtited (which is not to say I hate rooster teeth because I do like there stuff and really love red vs blue it's just I didn't like this one) which seemed to put me in the absolute minority compared to what the likes and the comments were showing. When I was reading the comments I noticed apart from all the Skyrim references that there was a lot of hate for PETA, now this is not the first time I've heard hate for the organisation as I've seen it get hate from websites, forums, Podcasts, people I know and hell I've gotten flack and been called a wishy washy socialist peta hippy because I donate money to the RSPCA, Blue Cross and Cats Protection League. But why does It get so much hate? Is it because people believe that hurting animals is right or is something else? Also why is it any time PETA gets mentioned that the line "People Eating Tasty Animals" comes up? I don't see how eating an animal which is natural thing we do and is part of the food chain the same as hurting animals for unethical reasons or just for plessure of doing so?

The number one answer I can think of off the top of my head is PETA often uses tactics and media displays that in essence call more attention to themselves than the animals they are trying to save. They are a caricature of an organization and often get treated as such.

The other answers are nearly as simple. Yes, some folks do simply take pleasure in the suffering of "lesser" creatures, and I use that term only in the academic sense.. which when taken into consideration really kinda sets up the picture anyway, doesn't it.

And then you just have the folks who troll to troll, because it is what they do.

What PETA says they're doing is reasonable enough.

It's the lengths they go to that are why they are made fun of. In this case, the ends do not justify the means.

They will do INSANE things. Like saying the video game "Cooking Mama" was bad because you killed "unborn baby chicks" (read: the conventional egg), and more recently they tried to support some inane platform of theirs by using Mario's famous Tanuki suit. I can't remember what they were trying to use the latter for, but it was really stupid because they were trying to insult one of Mario's more famous alt. suits.

It's the pointless media endevours. In a sense I understand it. Because what's the media more likely to cover? The conditions the animals are kept in slaughter houses or crazy video game tells kids to chop their puppys up! Which is a real shame as it dilutes the cause, doesn't encourage discussion and frankly I'd rather they campagne against cruelty against animals that actually exist. Not virtual ones.
To me they lost soe credibility when they let anyone do the "I'd rather go naked" thing, when Naomi Campbell did it, then wore fur on the catwalk a short while later. I don't know, maybe putting some of the money towards keeping most of their rescue animals alive would be a start

I personally hate PETA to death. They go to major extremes in their protests. I doubt that animals are offended by being mascots for football teams (unless that animal is a colt right now). They once tried to protest Punxatawney Phil the groundhog. They say that it's cruel to the animal. I guarantee you that that groundhog gets treated better year round than any of us. While I understand what their trying to do about slaughterhouses, I don't think that they should ruin it for the rest of us. I rarely eat vegetables and untiring mostly on meat. I also like to hunt deer and turkey and I disagree with them about hunting and fishing.

Even aside from their marketing stunts, PETA has done some pretty questionable and seemingly hypocritical stuff in the past, like euthanizing animals, high-ranking members using animal-based medications without remorse or acknowledgement, and financially supporting people who were essentially violent ecoterrorists.

PETA has a good message, but they go about it in an awful way.

Search youtube for the Penn and Teller Bullshit episode concerning PETA. That's probably a pretty good explanation of what PETA is, and it seems as if they're trying to be as partial as they possibly can. I personally hate PETA; they do nothing but sabotage their own self-aggrandizing efforts through intimidation, fear tactics, overall thuggery, etc, etc, etc.

Because PETA is naive and ignorant. I still laugh at the dialogue between PETA and the LSU system when LSU was searching for its current live tiger mascot, Mike VI. PETA spouted unsubstantiated poor quality of life claims. LSU's response was simple: Bullshit. At the time the tiger was two years old that had been raised in captivity since birth. His home to be at LSU was a brand new, $3 million habitat with personalized care from the Vet school. Mike immediately made himself at home, enjoying both his habitat and his visitors, and continues tto thrive in his habitat to this day.

Because apparently, they used to dump buckets of red paint ("blood") on people eating meat at burger joints. They force their views on people. They mock worldwide-famous restaurants with their sick, twisted views on animal cruelty. They think EVERYONE on Earth should become vegetarians but fail to realise that we are natural-born omnivores. It's fucking nature. Other animals prey on other animals but you don't see them hunting down bears to offer them a bowl of salad. They freak out over the most stupid and pointless things, such as: Obama killing a fly. A FLY!, Cooking Mama video games, Mario using the tanooki suit in Super Mario 3D Land, people wearing fur, the list goes on.

Now I've got nothing against vegetarians, just so long as they keep their opinions away from me. I'm a meat-eater till the day I die. I love animals but it doesn't bother me that cows, chickens and pigs are killed because I love beef, poultry, and bacon. There's a HUGE abundance of those three animals so we don't need to worry about them becoming endangered anytime soon.

For every animal PETA refuses to eat, I'll eat at least three.

Hypocritical at times, and sometimes insane, but Im glad they exist.

If you're a member of PETA, I applaud you for pointing out their flaws. Like I said in my post, I don't have anything against vegetarians. Or PETA members who don't belong in a mental institution. But when they try to force me to eat nothing but vegetables (which, by the way, are lifeforms as well), then I have a problem.

I'm from Norfolk, Va where there based and to be perfectly honest they have been linked to domestic terrorists. Also, there was the stink where 2 Peta members took over 30 cats from NC animal shelter, euthanized them, and then threw them into a dumpster like garbage. (Charges were filed and I think the girl got a year in jail IIRC) I could go on and on. If their methods weren't so effing out there and they actually practiced what they preached, people might take their message seriously, they do more harm than good for the animal rights cause.

While I disagree with vegetarians, I at least respect them for not forcing their views upon us and this is coming from a guy who hunts deer and eats meat everyday of his life. I hate PETA because they try to force their views upon us. They are way too extreme about their beliefs. The only good thing that they've ever done is have celebrities pose nude for them sometimes.
