Between the 2007 movie and now I am surprised at how much of the same mistakes they made on megatron's leader class figure.

For example, why must his head be visible in his alternate mode ?

Pardon me if I am wrong, but isn't one's first priority when in disguise, to hide one's face ?

Megatron's head sticking out is as pointless as if a zeebra had a brown face.

And I don't like the whole "he's to arrogant/ cool to hide" explanation, because as far as I am concerned, transformation and disguise is what separates this from other mecha series.

One other point I want to make though is. Why if megatron's alt mode cybertronnian and completely made up.... does his figure always look so much worse than optimus.. which has to transform into an earth vehicle ?

As far as I am concerned someone who has a "cybertronian tank" mode should transform perfectly.

It would seem to reason that on Cybertron, you don't transform to disguise, you transform to make use of the capabilities of another mode - flight, weaponry, whatever. So there's no need to conceal your head just because you want to be aerodynamic. You just adjust your body shape to be aerodynamic and go from there.

This ability was adapted for disguise once the Transformers began exploring other worlds, but it wasn't why the ability was created.

Just my guess on the matter.

I didn't like the head placement on the jet, but I really like it on the tank.

Agreed. The first figure's head position felt way out of place and random, here, looking at it again, it looks like he wants to ram you.

It's scary as fuck to see a head attached to a BFT (big f****** tank).

Cybertronian alt modes ain't for disguise, they're for easier and faster transportation.

The 2007 Megatron Movie Leader didn't transform very well anyway. It bares some resemblence to the character's alt mode in the movie, but it wasn't all that great. In this case, the head looked awful poking out on top and poorly concealed by the face flap. (And I'm still irritated by the fact that my toy of this has stopped transforming properly!) In the case of the 2009 Leader, however, the head seems to fit in with the overall design of the tank. As has been said, Cybertronian alts aren't designed as disguise mechanisms -- why would they need to hide on Cybertron where all ways peaceful and nice before the War? -- so much as making life easier. As such, his Cybertronian forms always transform "perfectly".

True enough. Lol. That said, I think this is pretty much confined to the movie continuity. Maybe we should say that Cybertronian alt form are designed to fulfil specific functions rather than as means of disguise.

I actually like the head being where it is in the tank mode. That way, he can see the looks of horror in the eyes of his victims right before he runs them over and crushes them.

His face is there to distract his victims from the giant effing cannon above it.

"Is that... is that his fucking head?"

Movie Leader Brawl and Animated Shockwave nullify that argument.

I'm still in the "no need to disguise on Cybertron" boat. Even then, the actual RENDER of his alt. mode in the first movie didn't have the head super visible, it was just the toys and the way they transformed.

Hasbro didn't want to deprive the world of Megatron's attractive face in any form he takes... I thought the answer was obvious.
