Why is it that Metroplex is more common than Trypticon?

How come Metroplex is so much cheaper and more common to find than Trypticon? I know the Encore reissue have caused Metroplex to drop in price a bit, though it was extensively cheaper even before that.

But shouldn't there be a big deadstock of Trypticons then? Or were Metroplex produced in much greater numbers?

    Because Dinosaurs are extinct.

Just Kidding... Maybe because Metroplex was more popular and they produced more of him rather than Trypticon.

Metroplex was sold in Europe while Trypticon was not. Don't know if it's a major contributing factor but it can't have helped Trypticon's case.

Plus, Metroplex would be more high profile as he was sold as Autobot city which featured in the more widely available movie while Trypticon only appeared in the toon.

Its like you said, there is no reissue of Trypticon (unless you count the BW2 gigastorm). Thats probably why you can't find one...

Yeah, but I'm talking generally about the U.S market. But I know, Trypticon is nearly impossible to find in Europe.

I guess you're both right. And Trypticons appearence is a bit silly..

Yeah but I'm only talking vintage, there are like thirty active auctions for Metroplex'es and like twelve for Trypticons on eBay, and then I'm not including the "buy it now" auctions. And yeah, I already have one :)

Metroplex has no electronics. Even if they were produced in the same quantities (which judging from the responses, they were not), battery leakage in Trypticons would have prompted parents to instantly throw them away, no questions asked.

Kids buy more good guys than bad guys. There are simply more out there on the secondary market.

i like to think due to the early electronics /motor mechanism in Trypticon...he was more of a higher price point to manufacture and back then that related to less units being produced and sold...metroplex had no electronics and thus cheaper to make and produce...
