Why is it so hard for M. Bay to see Grimlock & Dinobots in a TF film?

Every Dinobot origin story is impossible in the movies. It's broken.

    Solution to this.

    1) Make Dinobots arrive as protoforms.
    2) Have them land in some kind of nature museum with animatronic dinosaurs in it.
    3) ????
    4) Profit!!!

I just don't see how you can make the Dinobots work realistically without making major changes to their characters. It could seem like a name slap or very cheesy. I do like the Dinobots, but they just can't work within Bay's universe. Plus, they shouldn't just be added for fan service. Fan service isn't the same thing as making a good movie.

In response to the OP, and in line with what Alooulla said, some folks just don't care for the Dinobots. I'm actually glad they aren't in it, since they are either caveman-speaking idiots (a la the cartoons), or overrated "rebellious badasses" who are often assholes (their comics appearances).

    To make them work:

    Only have one, the t-rex
    Make it mute
    Make it obedient
Make it ignorant of the damage it deals when chasing/defeating a con in a human city

This and have that robot step on Bay so he would leave Transformers , TMNT, Thundercats and all our beloved childhood faves alone.

    DOTM already established that:
    A) Even the stupid people unaware of Transformers from the New York attack in TF1, now know, with the rest of the world, that giant alien robots exist.

    B) Energon detectors are in play; especially around big cities, so robots can't sneak in.

    C) Grimlock doesn't care if humans know he exists, and would probably pick a Dino-mode to make people piss their pants. Bay's only reason to not include them, is he just doesn't like them. Shame though, I think they would be cool.

Well, if the Driller was Cybertronian wildlife......

    Ideaaaaaa! /Rarity.

Something fell from the depths of Cybertron when in Earth's orbit. Something old, powerful and primal. Back when Cybertronian's blended in with their wildlife rather than their technology.

They could be Autobot shock troops, smarten them up.

Also if you can't think of a way to make a rampaging robot Dinosaur cool in the middle of giant climactic battle, you are not trying hard enough.

Lack of a realistic Earth mode that would fit in anywhere has been thrown out the window with so many characters I just don't see it as a good excuse for no Dinobots.

First movie Megatron is an alien jet. Second movie Megatron is an alien tank. The Fallen doesn't have an Earth mode. Soundwave doesn't have an Earth mode until the third film. Shockwave doesn't have an Earth mode. And I'm not sure what sort of weird place people live but living in the heart of NASCAR country you never ever see those cars just driving down the road.

Even Starscream's alt mode wouldn't fit in most places because you don't just find an unguarded F-22 just sitting in a parking lot somewhere.

What people fail to ralize is that Dinobots, like all beast-mode transformers, have no real purpose for their alt-mode. CYbertronian cars/planes still have aerodynamic advantages over robot mode for moving, even if disguise is out the window. Beast modes offer nothing over humanoid modes. Zip, Nada. Bay knows this. I know this. You know this.

Now, TFs can have a beast-like mode instead of a humanoid robot mode, such as Laserbeak, Ravage, etc. -- As for driller, there are 3 possibilities

    1) Driller is a dumb vehicle. There is no other form
    2) Worm _is_ the robot mode
    3) A worm-like mode has the advantage of being able to easily fit through the tunnels it makes. Like aerodynamics but for underground. Can piggyback off of #1

In any case, Driller is completely different from a beast alt-mode for a TF.

And yes, compared to all other TF incarnations, Bay's universe is realistic. Orders of magnitude more so. Simply removing/minimizing mass-shifting improves realism tons. Removing beast alt-modes improves it further. Just because he wasn't able to get 100% realism doesn't mean he should give up and incorporate the most embarrassing "should have been forgotten long ago" parts of the TF unverse into the movies.

If Bay wanted to include Grimlock et al as characters, he should do it like the "Dynobots" in the IDW comics.

LOL at all the 'Dinobots won't fit in Bay's universe'/'Dinobots are unrealistic' arguments. Bay's universe is not realistic, no matter which way you try to slice it.

    Get outta town.

Dinosaur mode = increased durability/resistance to enemy fire. Used for frontal assault.

Robot mode = increased agility/dexterity. Used for close-in, man-to-man battles and everyday life situations.

    Your move.
