all over the place i've seen the new Breakdown redeco being called "Cyrus Breakdown" when in the show,
it's Silas that allegedly gain control of BD's remains.
why are people calling him Cyrus BD?

The same reason people call a character called Minerva "MINELBA", I guess. (Not including "Deszaras" because that's apparently less clear on what they actually meant.)

Same reason Lugnut was written down "Ragnaits", Minelba, Rockdown [Lockdown] and so on...

Or why the vehicons are still called "Beacons" in many sites.

Japanese pronunciation of american names solicited to sites who do not try to correct it.

okay. i just heard Peaugh say it in his BD review and i thought it was official but (not to sound racist/stereotypical or anything) i was still suspicious of the fact that Japanese sites and people from Takara pronounced it wrong

I want to know why it's called "War Breakdown" Was that to get over the copyright "Breakdown" being used or something? Like how they throw "Autobot" in front of names sometimes?

Yeah, I think that was just a random trademark protection thing, like the similarly arbitrary "Medic Knock Out." Thing is, adding nonsense like that to the name actually weakens the trademark.

To be fair unless I'd seen it written down from the way it's said I wouldn't know if his name was Silas or Sirus either. so Cyrus isn't such a stretch.

I think the route of the problem is the Character scripts for modifying Be into Ve for example are tiny little accent marks that on a small low quality printout or small image would be illegible and they get missed or miss-spelled and that is part of the reason Ve and Be get muddled there is a Japanese character for Ve though (as used in Vega for example).

Be & Ve is also often just lazyness when spelling without the full expanded character set the Ro & Lo (Or similar) is just a problem with Japanese script not distinguishing well (or at all) between R & L which is why they call London - Rondon so the spelling they probably should use on toy sites is Cylus.

Cirus would make a good name for a dog though.
Remember the problems people had trying to decypher the name of the Micron Arms companions. the other problem is un-needed vowel sounds some need to be pronounced and some have to be dropped for it to make sense in English.

And yes these probably are spoilers if you've not see the last few eps of Prime before the "T" shows.

It's actually because a name is considered too generic to trademark. You'll notice they typically do it to guys with generic single-noun names such as (Spec Ops) Jazz, (Turbo) Tracks and (War) Breakdown (which I grant is usually a verb, but still works). Adding the extra word is what allows them to trademark the name.

When they've lost the trademark on something, they have to change the name entirely (Motormaster to Motorbreath).

"Silas" and "Cyrus" share the same Katakana, サィラス. Romanizing back works as both.

true. Besides at the of the episode "Nemesis Prime" definitely suggests this. Interesting to see if and when he shows back up (especially having Clancy Brown's voice coming out of BreakDown:rock :ev:  )

I'm more interested in that red repaint I caught a glimpse of....

In this case, I don't mind the spoiler being out there. It didn't ruin anything for me cause I just did a small catchup on a few episodes a few days ago. But, I kind of thought something was going to be happening in terms of Breakdown. No way they are offing him just that quick (Then again, they did kill CJ :(  )
