Why is G1 Hound so hard to find?

So I have been collecting G1 toys and/or reissues. I have to say G1 Hound or TFC 14 is the hardest thing in the world to find.

When you do, it is always like $100+ on ebay. Unfortunately I did miss a couple of great deals on here.

So my question is, why is he so hard to find? Is it cause all of the small parts to make him 100% complete?

Don't forget the chrome, the easily broken mirrors, and the papery stickers that don't wear so well.

He's got a lot of small parts, yes. But just like any toy from 1984, they are all hard to find, some more than others. The fact that the original is hard to find complete (and expensive) is why many people may have the reissue as well. But there is no particular reason that Hound is any more difficult to find than other G1 figures.

I have a complete set of 84-86 G1 bots. Hound was by far one of the hardest to find.

It's mostly because he hasn't been reissued a lot. He got TFC 14 yes but otherwise nothing.

Plus as others have said small chromed accessories added to how much people may like him add to this.

I ended up building one out of a couple junkers and reprolabeled it. Saved a ton of cash that way and he's in damn good shape, but I didn't bother to find things like the gas can and spare tire. They're useless parts in my eyes.

I would just think the TFC set was easier to come by. I got snipped at the last second on the TFC on ebay today.

Is there a way to snip automatically. So tired of getting outbid at the last second. I mean, I literally bid like $30 more then the highest bid 10 seconds before the auction is over, and another user which wasn't in on the bids beats me in the last second. Had this happen 3 times. How the F does that happen anyway? I mean it takes 2 damn seconds at the least to see the bid react and approve the bid. Is there a way to skip the confirmed bid portion or something?

As for our B/S/T section, does anyone have any search tips? I mean, you search on collection, and it lists everything that is not related to TFC. You cannot search on TFC, as that is not allowed, so any help would be appreciated.

It's not hard to find, just pricey. I went with the reissue.

Dang I passed one up at a comic show complete for $20 the other day.

    Guess I made a mistake.

Could have been broken/fixed etc. I doubt a mint one was selling for $20 but I could be wrong. Maybe he didn't know what he had

Yeah, at $20 you sure did, especially if he was in good shape.

BTW, what do you guys think is a decent price for him complete?

    I know... I saw. =(

I think it was like 2 weeks before I decided to start collecting G1. Seeing that listing pop up on searches hurts.

Complete original with all parts, I would say $65-75 would be a decent price. Anything less than $60 I would not hesitate to pull the trigger. Razorwire's prices were amazingly awesome, so don't expect to see that again. I would expect to pay $50+ for the TFC reissue.

The only parts I have are the windshield, Shoulder cannon, Missile. The ridiculous gun he can't hold.

And the gascan. One of the most easily lost parts is determined to stay peged into the foot on mine. For the best, though I do find it ironic.

    Paid $32

Is he that hard to find?

I have one in my FS thread, though with some issues.

I remember being 6 or 7 and utterly bewildered by how those arms were supposed to use that gun...

I would do $65 for a complete one, only problem is that g1 complete is selling at around $100 and tfc even more expensive.

Man, this really makes me glad I finished most of my G1 collecting before the movies came out. $100 for Hound, that's nuts.

I miss the days of the TFC line.

I was in the same position as your were two years ago: building G1 (preferring reissues) and on the hunt for the TFC.

eBay prices were always on the ridiculous side, often finishing at $100+ because that's the ONLY reissue (I also read somewhere that there were less Hounds made vs the other TFCs, not sure if true) . Expecting to pay between $60-$80 is reasonable IMO, I eventually found mine at TFCon for $60.
