Sure, we've all seen past movie toy lines have tons of toys on the shelf and there is no short supply of any of them. In fact, they usually end up on clearance. With this mindset, alot of people say there's no need to be in a hurry to buy the movie stuff. There will be tons of it available for quite a while. I've even said it myself a time or two.

Now I point you to the one example that broke the stereotype of movie toys. Disney's Cars. Before the movie, there were no fans. Noone really cared about the toys, so there were plenty around. There were no fans prior to the movie to buy any of the toys. Then the movie hit. It was a huge success. Pretty much instantly, all the 1/55 scale diecasts sold out. They were a huge pain in the butt to locate. It's taken almost a year for the things to finally meet demand and reach saturation.

So what if the TF movie does like Cars? It's a huge success and people want the toys. Not just fans, but average people, kids, average kids, etc... I could totally see stores getting wiped out and making guys like Bonecrusher very hard to find. I'm not taking any chances. I will buy all the ones I want before the movie opens.

I'd like to get the ones I want before the movie hits, of course I'm limiting myself to 4 so it shouldnt be too hard. Although 1 of those 4 is 2008 Bumblebee so we'll see how hard he is to find once he actually hits the shelves.

    I agree.

300, Grindhouse. I regret not getting the figs before the movies. Thankfully, I was able to find a Leonidas, but, I still can't find a Cherry...

Amen! That's why I already have everything I want except for '08 Bumblebee.

Really? I've seen all the figures at one time or another on the shelf. Could've bought the whole line after the movie had I wanted to.

I'm going to buy all the movie toys I want before the movie opens because I'm an OCD toy collector and I've been itching to get these guys for months. Oh, and I guess they'll be harder to find after, too.

My problem is that I'm waiting to see the movie before I figure out who to get. I'm running out of shelf room, so I'm limiting my buys to the characters who really stand out onscreen.

The only exception is Leader Optimus, who I have to get because of his flame deco. I'm waiting for the Costco exclusive pack though, whenever that comes out...

There are some I have bought already and there are some I am going to see if I like them in the movie enough to buy the toys (i.e. Not very hot on them at this moment). Only 22 days more here and I hope some stocks will last in good condition, which may be difficult considering the clientele in my local K Mart and Target.

I'm sticking with movie characters, and only those I like. So far that's been Bumblebee, Jazz and Barricade. The likes of Bonecrusher and Brawl don't appeal to me.

I want a Prime, but the leader is too pricey and big for me. I may get a Robovision or Voyager, but I don't like the "backpack." I prefer it where the entire vehicle contributes to the robot. So I guess I'm torn... but it's PRIME... but I'm undecided...

The Real Gear is a neat idea, and some of them look good, but in reality I wasn't able to pull one off the shelf to buy.

Seeing the movie could change my mind in any of this, of course.

I dunno. Hasbro tends to overship early waves. I don't think any of the 6/2 items will be hard to find. '08 Bee, the tail end repaints, those are another story.

I kinda agree. If the movie hits as big as it's being thought, especially with kids, I think you will see the stuff fly out the door after that first and second weekend. I saw a family today check the movie stuff out, with a parent picking up some real gear stuff, but put it back. Now, if they see it and their kids really dig it, they'll come back and buy, I'm sure.

I've always seen the Cars toys every time I hit up Walmart.
    Never seen them sold out.
But I get what you are saying.
Once the movie hits, I'm sure every little kid out there will be yelling " I WANT TRANSFORMERSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS"
    Hopefully.
And then with that, you have the toy terrorists, trying to horde everything for their over priced stores and/or ebay.

That's pretty much how it is around here. I'm not gonna risk it to save a few bucks.
