With all these freaking repaints flying around, why the hell don't they use the hands down best Deluxe BB mold out there? BB:BB :(

He'd be bigger than DLX Ratchet.
Also, DOTM DLX is basically just a smaller more scale accurate BB:BB with no cannon arm, axe arm or battle mask.

I guess what he said about him being too tall, but I agree BB BB is the best Deluxe Bee out there.

    He displays well with Voyagers - but looks idiotic next to deluxe Ironhide - I agree 100% he should be repainted ;

I'd welcome Stealth Bumblebee, (NO BLUE WINDOW THOUGH), & Cliffjumper.

I particularly wondered why they didn't use BBB for the set that includes a repainted HA Basic as he's so much larger and people might have been more inclined to buy the set if he was the mould used.

Cannon Bumblebee has been used to much - I'd not mind so much if they modified the 2007/preview/Premium mould again to give it DOTM tail and such - as that is always good fun - it's a puzzle that they used the total 2007 mould for the 84 Walmart/Sainsbury's Bumblebee toy they could have used a mix of parts from the Preview and the 2007 to make a much better toy.

Ugh, I hate that Hasbro's cost cutting/Price Hiking methods result in wave after wave of crappy repaints. I wish they'd at least use the better molds :(

Cannon Bumblebee is almost definitely the Bumblebee mold with the highest profit margin; BBBB is almost definitely the one with the lowest (based on design complexity, size, etc). It's a business decision.

I agree, the Cannon mold is by far the worst. I'm on the boat that there's far too many Bumblebees out there right now (and in the foreseeable future). However, if it works for Hasbro and keeps the brand going, I'll gladly just use that money to support 3rd party goods and other transforming robots.

    1) rising labour and raw material costs.
    2) soft dollar
    3) volume retailers refuse to pay more than price x per unit.

That's a significant factor in why toys are shrinking.

I'd have to say "Preview" Crappy old Camero BB for 2007 was the worst.

Probly because they already have a repaint planned into the main line and they can't use the mold at the same time for an exclusive.

I wish they'd get around to making a 1970's bumblebee that had more modern engineering too.

A repaint of this wouldn't be so bad, its the constant repaints of the 07 and 09 moulds that are doing my head in.

I've been wondering this too. It would've made sense to use it for the Wal-Mart rally BB.

I'd love a Cliffjumper repaint of BB:BB - he is definitely the best movie deluxe period. I wish they put the tech they put into BB:BB into a movie Jazz and a Ratchet. I think the Sidearm Sideswipe is a pretty figure cool too. I wouldn't mind a all red repaint of him or a re-release of the japanese version.

Hasbro probably wants to release a mold of BB that will be out in time for the theater release of DOTM for the people that can't wait for a premium BB. Hasbro can also see fan responses on this BB and see how they can improve it compared to previously released BBs

Two, it was released with the 'new' bumblebee, not sure what, but I know it had minimal differences. Target exclusive.

Its probably because molds arent cheap, and they want to recoup as much as they can. Likewise, its a mold that has produced the highest profit margin as well.

Maybe we will get other BB molds later on, but it would have to make sense with the repaint. Random BB Bees coming out would look relatively stale and the more generic cannon BB probably flows across the repaint process better.
