The only times Megatron has ever called an Autobot by name.

"I will take care of the Autobot 'Bulkhead' myself."

And the few times he said "Omega Supreme".

Other than that he hasn't said any Autobto names in the series so far.

 

As mentioned, why should he?

Autobots are disposable wind up soldiers and the enemy to him. He's killed countless numbers of them over millions of years. Even if they were introduced, there is no reason to expect Megatron to remember it or for him to even bother trying to do so.

Technically, Optimus has lost every physical confrontation, and has never beaten him, it's always been other items or outstanding circumstances that have led to his defeat, so it's not like Megatron even has any reason to really respect his foe at this point, and even if Optimus did start a winning streak, that still wouldn't guarantee that Megatron would remember it.

Am I the only person here who interpreted Megs throwing the axe back at Optimus as a possible sign of begrudging respect, however small? The way Megs performed that action did not strike me as an aggressive or offensive move - it was almost as if Megs was returning Optimus his weapon. Of course, it could also be a sign of contempt, as in "Here, take back your puny toy - not that you would be able to defeat me with it, anyway."

 

i remembered taht scene as it. need to rewatch it, but i had impression like this more.

 

What everyone else says. Autobots are so far beneath Megatron, he doesn't care what their names are. They're just another victim.

 

Megs has slagged plenty of Primes, this one is no different.

 

Yeah, that's true. Even inside Omega Supreme, without his fusion cannon and his twin swords, Megatron still easily defeated Optimus Prime no matter what the latter did to the former. Optimus gets either punched unconscious for a few seconds (long enough that Megatron decides to first finish off the cyberninja back in the spark chamber), and then, after getting interrupted by Optimus who's back consciously, starts to strangle the autobot, holding him up easily.

The only question is, why didn't Megatron just finish off Optimus when he had the opportunity.

I chalk it up to his own arrogance, having believed that his punch already put the other offline, and/or perhaps Optimus feigned death.

 

Optimus Prime... or was that a joke? Cuz it was a good one. xD

 

You know what would really be funny is if Megatron called Ironhide "Bumblebee"... (Points to whomever gets the reference...)

I didn't see Optimus catch the ax. Must be losing it.

Yep, agreed, Megatron doesn't look like the type to find out an enemy's name, kill them then put it on a list. Besides, it would be way too long and once Megatron vanished everyone would want it at an auction!

It would be cool if it all eventually comes to a final show down, Megs is finally at his wits end over this lowly Autobot always getting in the way of his plans and just loses his cool:

Megatron: "Time and time again you've gotten in my way, a lowly insignificant Autobot misfit. Who are you!?"

Optimus: "My name is, Optimus Prime."
*Faceplate closes, and he pulls out his energon axe.*

 

I think Megatron remembers Optimus, but he never quite knew his name.

And this Prime isn't as awesome in battle (yet) as G1 Prime, so he hasn't kicked Megatron's skidplate hard enough to warrant Megatron to pull a Freeza yet:

Megatron: "Who ARE you...?"

Super Saiyan (or Fire Guts if you wish...)Optimus: "Ally to GOOD, nightmare to you..."

 

Must be. Megs tossed it back, Prime caught it and then it panned towards his face, where he delivered the great rebuttal line: "bring it on, Decepticon." Two can play at the "I don't care about your name" game.

 

Megatron may not know Optimus' name, but at least he knows Professor Sumdac's!

i actually can't imagine animated megs saying optimus prime.

Well. I look at it this way. Megs had Omega the one bot that he could have used to end this new war before it truely began, he could have gone home to conquer, he could have gone and helped his troops take over space bridges, but what does he do? He goes to Earth to wipe out a small band of Autobots (Not troops, FIELD TECHS)....doesn't seem he found them to beneath him.

 

Megatron:Who are you?

Optimus:I'm Ben 10!

Megatron:That makes Starscream KEVIN 11!

Starscream:Who Spider bot that don't remeber her name?

Megatron:Blackarachina who is Gwen!

Optimus:I don't know that Blackarachina my cusin.
