Really I'm just asking why? Your ideas? any witty jokes you got?
I'm not sure which one to go with, roll-eyes or beating a dead horse.
If you look at everything developed by valve, you'll notice that none of their titles involve the number 3. There's plenty of 2's, and even a 4, but no 3's anywhere.
The joke originally started when Half Life 2: Episode 3 was delayed long enough to be classified as vaporware (games that have been "in development" for a long time without any information about its status or release date, I.E. Duke Nukem Forever's biggest claim to infamy). The fact HL2:E3 still has not really had any information about it leaked in ages has only given this joke more and more ground.
Nonsense there's DOTA- wait.
There's team fortress-
But there's portal thr-
Everything created by Valve or Valve-owned is a two now.
Half-Life 2 Episode 2
Left 4 Dead 2
Team Fortress 2
Somebody's going to have to overcome their phobias pretty quick, otherwise, they're gonna need some new IPs .
Or maybe they're too preoccupied swimming in pools of their Steam-generated money to bother with doing that much work for themselves anymore. Couldn't say I'd blame them .
This could arguably be called Counterstrike 3, but the rest stand.

Eh, just rumors, I doubt that's real.

These things, they take time.
He doesn't like the number 3 because there aren't 3 Buttons on a standard mouse.
He doesn't like the Number 3 because that means he has to think of something new again.
He doesn't like the number 3 because the third Terminator and Jurassic Park films were especially "Meh".
He doesn't like the Number 3 because every time someone said three during production of Half-Life, they were out of donuts again.
He loves the number three. Which is why we will never get anything numbered 3 from him, because he wants it all for himself.
Gabe is currently going through Capcom sickness. Capcom originally suffered this sickness with the Street Fighter series for the longest time.
LOL, I remember when the news first broke on Street FIghter 3. Magazine articles like Gamepro and EGM were all "Capcom CAN actually count to 3!!!
As for Valve, maybe they'll break that trend if/when they do a Left 4 Dead 3. A third L4D seems overdue and strange that there's been absolutely nothing heard on that.
Each time a fat joke about gabe newell is made episode 3 gets delayed by a week.
8 years time though? That has how long it's been since HL2 was released. I'm down for something being well developed, but there have been few titles that has had an announced sequel take so long and be very successful after delays and such. Seriously, if this takes any longer people will start complaining, granted there are already quite a few that are. Not only that, if the game sucked or was mediocre and people had waited 10 or 12 years, then you can pretty much kiss the franchise goodbye, or at least have a lot of fans be fans no more, myself included. I honestly hope this sequel lives up, because after this much time, I'm expecting a masterpiece.
The only positive for them is they've kept a lot of it under wraps, so it doesn't pop up as much as it could, otherwise, this'd be driving people insane!
The good old days.
That's what I was thinking. It's kind of like when you give somebody the flu, except there's only one flu that gets passed from person to person. We'll know Gabe is over it when suddenly some other franchise starts releasing Super Turbo Hyper Championship Edition remakes of its second game.
Yeah, the long development time would be fine (barely) if they didn't continuously tease their audience. I dare say it's gotten to the point where Half-Life 3 is just a joke now.
