I'm getting real sick of every vaguely pointy or jagged looking Transformer being compared to Shredder.

I don't understand the question other than Megatron in his Unicronian Armor isn't look like The Shedder, but he didn't got a mask and cape.

    Which Shredder?

Eastman and Laird's original Shredder, Oroku Saki?
The 1986 Oroku Saki that hung out with Krang?
The 80's Movie Shredder who wore a sparkly shirt and a gigantic helmet that eventually mutated into Super Shredder?
    Utrom Shredder from 2003?
    The 2013 Ninja Warlord Shredder?

I suppose he does look like Super Shredder a little.

    He does not.

He just got those blades added to his old armor. Otherwise it's still the same TFP buckethead with slightly more coarse armor and some purple glows.

Because both the original Shredder and Megatron have a "buckethead" as the root of their designs. Shredder because he wears a helmet, Megatron because of his toy's design influence. Both modern animated versions stylize the helmet similarly by bringing it down and flairing it out. Moreover both feature commonly elongated animated faces and small, beady red eyes that are typical of evil characters. Shredder wears curved, spiked armour because of his Japanese influence, Megatron because it's a simplification of his movie design. Megatron's spikes he got from Unicron, which replicate TFPrime Unicron's jagged surface and classic devil horns, coincidentally replicate (albeit swept opposite) Shredder's many bladed edges and brow crest. Add to that they're both grey, both robots (or a robot suit, spoiler alert for an over-a-decade-old-show) and both very brawny and imposing, and the similarities are unavoidable.

Basically, they both look like really mean guys, and animators tend to favour a certain look when it comes to really mean guys.

Really makes you wonder why they didn't just recolour him, add a few more minor differences, and call him Galvatron.

Am I remembering wrong or did Smokescreen actually call Megatron "bucket head," or "pale face" or something in Predacons Rising?

he also called him megacron and unitron lol

since split lip already did a marvelous job at summing up megatron 2.0's resemblance to the shredder i went looking on deviantart.com folks to see if i could find anything interesting there while doing a keyword search under the words tech ninja turtles and for those here who are curiouse as to what the turtles might look like as bots i think this this guys reinterpretation of the turtles does a wonderful job at exploring the idea

art and character profile stats by CHASINGARTWORK by the way

An elite, specialized squad known as "Turtle Tech"
Powered by a high energy output reactor contained within the shell - requires a rare fluid known as "Ooze" to function

    Leonardo
Fiercely protective of his team, Leo acts as team leader.

    Strengths:
    • Highly skilled in ninjutsu, stealth
    • Expert strategist, can size up and read a situation faster than even Donatello.
    • Master Swordsman- Leos twin katanas can go back and forth from Razor sharp, to blunt on command. The blades also have the ability to temporarily break and re-attach- allowing leo to throw his attacking opponents off balance when instead of striking a defending sword, they find air.

    Weaknesses:
    • Incredibly inept without his team, Leo seems to loose all confidence when bereft his brothers.
    • Overly protective of his team, at times, even hindering them.

    Michelangelo

    Strengths:
    • Highly skilled in ninjutsu, stealth
    • High-levels of agility, speed, and strength- smallest/quickest on the team
    • Master of twin offensive carbon fibre- nun-chucks (emits a concussion blast upon strike)

    Weaknesses:
    •pre-occupied with disc shaped food
•While the most ambitious, Mikey is also the most in-experienced

    Donatello
Dual shell reactors allow this mech to process at far greater speeds than the rest of the team.

    Strengths:
    • Highly skilled in ninjutsu, stealth
    • High-levels of agility, speed, and strength
    • Genius-level intellect - Expert in various fields of science and engineering
    • Donnys staff, upon contact, causes a unique wave of sonic vibration, mapping it's target- immediately giving Donatello detailed blueprints and thus weaknesses/strengths

    Weaknesses
    • More interested in building than fighting- most passive member of the team
    • easily distracted by anything tech or even scrap machinery

    Raphael
    Strengths:
    • Highly skilled in ninjutsu, stealth
    • Although the slowest and least Agile of the 4, Raph is in a league his own when it comes to determination and sheer strength
    • Groups "tank" able to take and inflict excessive amounts of damage.
    • Master of twin Sai. Raphael quickly shatters swords and disarms his opponents.
Once Raph's Sai come into contact with another weapon, they immediately match+vibrate a frequency that will weaken, and will eventually shatter the weapons make/metal/material. making Raphs disarming style of combat highly effective

    Weaknesses
    • Most aggressive- sometimes to unpredictable degrees
    • Raph's shell Core has been known to overheat to dangerous levels, sending the bot into a mindless fury
    • Has been known to question and in some cases- disregard orders from the team leader.

TBH you weren't said that there's more than a coincidental resemblance between Shredder and Megatron. The animators did not make him similar intentionally, it's just that both Shredder and Megatron are generic armored dudes with blades strapped to their armor. :X

It's just like X-Men Silver Samurai sometimes looks similar to Shredder by the virtue of being a generic Eastern armored guy.

Megatron's design in the Predacons Rising looks like they took his usual TFP self, then mixed it with their Unicron model and made his helmet sliiightly inspired by Galvatron's classic samurai helmet/crown and then went pretending hard that it's not supposed to be their version of Galvatron (not at all, nope... especially when it's lampshaded by Sideswipe in the same movie).
