If that were true, we wouldn't be here arguing for the millionth time.
But, they have been, BUT JUST IN THE CONCEPTS, not in the looks, wich it's not a thing that has been appealing to the hardcore fans, and i understand and respect that (let's not act like every live action design was "good" or even decent -ehem skids and MUTflap).
However their roles are still similar, but the exectuion through them has been mediocre as well.
A POSSIBILITY, it's that the jet it's just not starscream, and he's still voicing that jet. (most likely ramjet idk)
Charlie Adler just came out on Twitter stating he is NOT voicing Starscream.
Honestly, IMDB is not trustworthy at ALL about this kind of information until after a given film is released.
It has never been tho, IMDB it's a placeholder thing until the final product and info. of the cast comes up. I also wouldn't follow it as far as the thing goes.
Also, on the subject of Hasbro condensing the most iconic versions from across the brand, isn't that exactly what the Evergreen design process is supposed to be? To simply eliminate the idea of having multiverses and multiple running continuities so the line stops competing with itself (which is a legit reason I.E. Universe 2.0 Ratchet was pushed into the last release wave of that line because Hasbro didn't want the deluxe competing with deluxe Animated Ratchet who had hit shelves first), as well as establish a true final identity for the brand moving forward.
I want to believe!
I actually enjoyed him best in ROTF. Whiny, cowardly, a subtle (but appreciated) hint of his ambition to take command as well as a handful of amusing scenes with Megatron.
I felt they really dumbed him down in DOTM. With Sentinel Prime taking the stage, all of the fun interactions from the previous film were gone and he doesn't really have anything to do (though I disagree with most on this forum, I do think his death scene suited him. Overconfidence and shortsightedness is a fitting end for Starscream).
The Bay films had a history of screwing with TF names and designs, so on that level I can understand some skepticism, but I would be shocked if that wasn't Starscream. It makes as much sense for him to be on Earth at this time as it does Bee, and I'll give them extra points if they have him here trying to run things on his own instead of looking for Megatron.
Maybe the confusion comes from the fact that, while Bumblebee is mostly the same as his iconic movie form, just with Volkswagen parts and no door-wings, "Starscream" barely resembles the silver vulture-like design that Movie Starscream had been depicted in. I think it probably is Starscream (though I will be sad if Charlie Adler doesn't do the voice), and I certainly hope it is, but we'll have to wait and see.
If they really do rewrite this character to be Starscream and he moves on to prominence in future films, I really hope they give him the super metallic voice of TF07, maybe even at a lower tone to make his name somewhat ironic. (which is how TFA Starscream almost was) A guy this cool deserves a cool voice.
Well, also because people have seen the film.
I always Starscream's voice sounded cool without needing to be a deep baritone like Optimus Prime. Plus, I feel there's more variety when you have a higher pitched voice contrasting against a baritone like Optimus, a gravelly voice like Megatron, and the heavily processed voice of Soundwave.
I'm almost positive it's Starscream.
And even if it's Starscream and the movie is still a Bay prequel... how does that conflict at all? I can't think of any way that contradicts a past film.
But anyway, go to Youtube. Starscream is a known name to the general public and many who watched the trailer were most excited by a "G1 looking Starscream." It would be silly if it weren't him.
Also, he very clearly has a blue nosecone. It's Starscream.
Except if, y'know, this guy dies. Kind of hard for Starscream to show up in a later film, chronologically, if he's dead in the 80s.
And people who have seen the majority of the final film in early screenings say it isn't him.
Welp, that's what I get for coming into the movie forums.
Anyway, now that I know that, I think that's a huge mistake. Starscream is a surprising draw for people, especially the type of people this movie is marketing nostalgia to. To let them think it's him, and make him look just like G1 Starscream without it actually being him is, well, misguided.
Edit: Oh wait, are you saying *if* he dies? Like it's not a sure thing?
the robot and the blue and red cars are apparently new characters and all die
Ah fek I didn't actually know that. I'm all like "hell yeah I've PM'd Optimus_Prowl I'm not afraid of spoilers" and clicked away like a madman. Feces.
Guess it's not a complete turnaround from the Bay era but hey baby steps?
Just don't get excited for this seeker, consider it as a "OH, IT'S BASED OFF STARSCREAM" and just that, just a reference, nothing important really.
Guys its Slingshot! Travis Knight is giving us Superion!
That's what my Ouija board said, so you know it's trustworthy.
