I don't know about you, but I really don't like how Hasbro is handling their Transformers toys nowadays.
When I was a kid, I used to get a new Transformer every week, but that was back in 2005, when the Cybertron line was still on the shelves.
What I hate about modern Transformers toys is that they're too easy to transform and the high cost.
It's like they getting worse and worse and getting more expensive.
I have returned several Transformers because I was pretty disappointed that they weren't as good as I thought they were gonna be. That and the high cost is why I really don't buy Transformers anymore.
There a few Masterpiece toys that I do plan on buying, though.

So, do any of you know why the modern Transformers toys suck?

The lines that I really enjoyed were Masterpiece, Universe 2.0, and the Bay movie lines.
Any idea why modern Transformers toys suck nowadays?
And which lines did you enjoy the most?

Why would anyone know why you hold the opinion that TF toys suck? We can't read your mind. We don't know how you determine your opinions. What do you mean by posting this?

Every Transformers line has had its winners and losers, all the way back to the very beginning. The key is to remain openminded enough to find the good stuff while staying informed enough to avoid the bad.

I'm going to throw my two energon cubes in and say that i don't mind how easy or hard a transformer is to transform, what i care about is the figure at either end of a transform though i do prefer easier transformations over harder ones
using TR Triggerhappy as an example it has an easy transformation with its robot and vehicle mode i am more than happy with

How were you able to get one every week?!?

Also, I personally don’t think transformation difficulty is the mark of a good toy. Some figures require it because of how different their 2 modes are, but I don’t want a hard transformation just for the heck of it.

Well i have to disagree with you there. Well others here love the new stuff like myself and I've been a g1 fan all my life since 1984. The new stuff POTP,Titans return, combiner wars takes me back to the orginal G1 days. The latest line i believe is for the collector in mind meaning people that grew up with the orginal stuff. So they know the old characters very well.

I'm pretty sure the problem is that modern TF toys (RID, Cyberverse) focus too much on gimmicks and a younger audience. Stick with more advanced lines (POTP, Titans Return, Studio Series).

I either bought it myself or someone bought it for me.
And it wasn't every every week, more like every 1.5 weeks or every other weel. No real pattern, really.

Transforms are essentially 3 toys in one:
    • Action figure
    • Vehicle/Animal/Other
    • Puzzle

The "puzzle" aspect is my fave part of the toy; the more complex the transformation, the better. I believe the Masterpiece figures do this aspect the best. MP-36 seems to know what he's doing. :3
The chaotic and complex transformations of the Bay movies are what I enjoy the best from the movies. I say that the transformations are half the Transformer.

I also designed some of my own Transformers, and they're way better than what Hasbro has ever produced. The transformations style they have are that of the Bay movies, or, as I call it, "bayformation."

Other then trying to find alot of them and failing, I've been having a ball with many of the lines since I started collecting. And I'm just dying to get those gorgeous, incredible Seige figures. I don't think they suck as a rough whole.

LMAO at the idea that transformation complexity is what makes a Transformer good.

Huh, another "it sucks because I think so" thread? Those are usually only on Tuesdays with the "cheap hollow comment" and "wait for the KO" threads.

Solution: don't buy the gimmick lines and just buy the ones you like. The gimmick lines are aimed at a different demographic.

So much this. One of the shortcomings of the ROTF line was how complex some of the figures got - nobody particularly enjoys transforming Mixmaster or Leader Prime, for instance.

And on the other side, simple transformations are not easy to pull off even if they don't seem like they do. Animated Leader Megatron is a hillariously simple transformer - all he does is fold up his arms, extend the cockpit section on his back, put his legs together, and the cannon mounting plate moved into the gap to cover his head. But what REALLY sells the transformation is the fact the 'putting the legs together' step is actually quite complex because you pull the leg armor off, rotate 180 degrees, and then fold them back in - the profile is completely changed and look nothing like legs.

I think Warden himself stated at the start of Prime Wars that they are actively trying to keep the transformations simpler than in the rotf days, so I'm afraid you're out of luck in that respect.
You're best chance for complex transformations nowadays is in the MP line or 3p.

I thought the Unicron trilogy toys sucked. It’s what made me quit buying them until 07.

I think the movie toys and children’s line had a slight decline in previous years. Generations been strong since Thrilling 30.

Studio Series was a breath of fresh air to the movie line. War for Cybertron Siege looks like it will bring the same quality as Studio Series. Cyberverse looks mediocre for teen - adult collectors but Siege looks to be the “mature” version of cyberverse.

Right now the way I see it the Transformers line is only going up.
