I was just wondering why they changed Ratchet's colour. I liked him yellow.
No clue, merchandising reasons?
I don't know if it's been stated why they gave him a new color scheme or not, though personally I wished they didn't change his color scheme; I like the old color scheme a lot better.
Maybe to give Hasbro another excuse to repaint the TF1 Voyager mold? lol...
Though seriously, I have absolutely no clue why they made the change. Could be any number of things. Maybe since Prime, Bee, Sideswipe, and the Twins were all getting changes/updates made to their models, they decided to change-up Ratchet a bit too.
I liked the old color scheme more as well
probably to make him stand out, which he definitely does now and as Ravenxl7 said, all the autobots got cosmetic changes for the new one.
I don't know, I really like his previous color scheme as well. I was extremely disappointed the first time I saw his new colors.
That would be my guess, I'd rather they didn't though.
Because THEY CAN!
I would say this, but every one of Ratchet's figures in DOTM have been all new moulds anyway.
I like the colours, personally. Dunno if I like 'em more than the old ones.
He was jealous that Bumblebee is getting all the screen time, and went green with envy.
Because superhero abs didn't look right on him so they said hey lets just make him have a brighter green and add some white.
Probably to sell toys.
probably just to sell the same old mold to completists...
I liked the old colours better...
Can't remember what I thought when I first saw them, but the new colours look good to me.
Ratchet has always had white in his colour scheme, so now Movie Ratchet has a little white. I think it brightens him up.
It looks like pea green to me lol
Maybe they thought his color scheme was too close to Bumblebee. I've heard that kids would see yellow Ratchet and think "Hey! It's Bumblebee!" Since they seem to be giving Ratchet more screen time, they probably want him to be easier to recognize. Regardless, I actually prefer him green.
I am one of the few who does like the colors. It helps make him discernable from bumblebee which both my mother and 2 friends couldn't tell the difference when watching TF1. It was because both bumblebee and Ratchet were yellow. Not to mention his brighter colors definately make it hard for people to complain about him being "Hard to see"
Didn't I read somewhere they wanted to change his colors to be more like RESCUE vehicles?? and not the usual red and white..much less the yellow/greenish color from the other 2 movies. This does seem a whole lot brighter green than any rescue vehicles I've seen, but whatever. Green isn't my fave color for any bot..but I think it works for Ratchet!
