If the Autobot Matrix of Leadership contains the wisdom of the ancients and will not open for Decepticons, why did it work for Scourge? Did it deem him an appropriate leader? Did it not sense that he is a Decepticon and wanted to destroy the Autobots?I have no explanation for this, can someone help clarify if there is an actual explanation for this?

    G1 I think.

The explanation is that the writers didn't know or didn't care about continuity, as long as they could tell a story. Just don't think too much of it.

By the way, it did somehow corrupt him, didn't it?

"Work" is sort of a relative comparison. It was tearing him apart in exchange for a temporary power boost. Even if Scourge had managed to keep possession of it, he'd have died.

It happened in the G1 season 3 episode "The Burden Hardest to Bear," I believe.

I would think, if you really want to look into it... is that only the chosen ones can recieve the knowledge of the past leaders. Otherwise it is tainted when someone who isn't worthy of obtaining that knowledge tries to open it.

    Something along those lines.

I always thought the point was it didn't work, that's why he got all gross and went crazy. Yeah, the part about him having powers is strange, but again, I thought the message was that it wasn't working for him, that's why Rodimus seemed shocked when he says "it did this to you? Then I have to take it back". I dunno, I guess it's all in how you look at it.

In my opinion it just made a "good" story, I don't think it was really anything else, but he did put it inside his "chasis" so maybe that's where he got it right , but then again Ultra Magnus did too and got no results lol!

Yeah, I guess you really can't say that it actually worked for him since he really looked like it was tearing him apart.

Sorry but I'm not sure I would completely agree with that.

If it "didnt" work for him at all he wouldnt have been physically effect at all.

Remember it did absolutely nothing for Galvatron and Ultra Magnus.

As far as the original question go's...

I always felt that theres a small part of the TF population, on both sides, that has a genetic infinity with the Matrix.

This would explain why some characters are "slightly" effected by the Matrix, some greatly effect, and others not effected at all.

Exactly. It didn't work for Scourge. Roddy never became a tumour-fied leper when he had the matrix.
