why did sentinel want to restore cybertron...

    Decepticons are also Cybertronian. He merely wants to reunite his race again.

    Even if it means taking over the Decepticons. Sentinel left the leadership to both Optimus and Megatron and they failed his expectations miserably.

    So u mean by trying to Reunite his race and stop the War he's turn against his own kind?

    More like sold his soul. For the needs of the many outweigh the needs of a few... or the one.

    Optimus Prime here learned "Freedom is the right of sentient beings" from Sentinel Prime. Megatron here might a well learned from him "Peace through tyranny".

    Even if there were only Decepticons remaining, the Transformers would still go on and thats what Sentinel's goal was

    I believe that Sentinel was a misguided Prime and that he used the wrong means for a rightful situation to rebuild Cybertron. He certainly is a colourful character, because on one side he is absolutely hated because of what he did to Ironhide and in another he's understood as a misguided leader and loved for his rich characterisation as a villain.
