Why Botcon Spark doesn't have a new head (just a theory, but...)

Most people figure that the original Autobot and Decepticon logos are based on the head sculpts of G1 Prowl and Soundwave. Looking at the G2 Decepticon logo on Botcon Clench, I thought that his head kinda matched the new shape. And, coincidentally enough, Universe Inferno's head is also shaped very similarly to the G2 Autobot logo. Could FunPub be retroactively basing those logos on these new heads in their story?

It's just probably likely they felt he didn't need a new head as much as Clench, Sky Byte, Breakdown and presumably Rapido do.

Probably because the other heads of those toys that have received new ones were less of a match for the characters they were trying to represent.

I never thought BotCon Spark needed a new head sculpt.

The head looks fine as is, though I'd have loved a faceplate.

Budget. FunPub only has so much for headsculpts. They've always made it a point to only get new headsculpts for toys that really need them.

I'm not asking why he didn't get one, or saying he needs one. I don't even care that he doesn't have one. I'm speculating on a reason why FunPub decided, amongst other figures they had planned, not to give him one.

And I'm saying, Clench's head looks like the G2 Decepticon logo. Universe Inferno's head, by coincidence, also looks like the G2 Autobot logo. I'm saying they probably noticed that themselves and decided it'd be a good idea to keep it as is, and might even factor into what makes "Generation 2" different in their story.

I personally don't see much of a resemblance -- the G2 Autobot logo is clearly Prime, and the G2 Decepticon logo doesn't look like Clench to me at all.

That said, I'm sure FunPub will address the new logos in the Botcon literature, whether through the comic or character bios.

Spark would have been decided upon before they were aware of Pyro's appearance in Last Stand of the Wreckers. Before then Pyro was pretty much a complete nobody - the similarities to Optimus Prime only known about by a few. Maybe if they had been aware of LSotW, they would have given him a new head.

That has nothing to do with the shape of Universe Inferno's head in comparison to the G2 Autobot logo.

And I'm saying you're looking far too deeply into it. There's no hidden meaning, or deeper reasoning. Sure, they can spin that later on in some interview "Uhh... yeah, we meant to do that. Sure." But ultimately it's a simple money issue.

For the simple fact that Breakdown, Clench and Sky-Byte deserved new heads more so than Spark.

I'm thinking that had nothing to do with the design process.

Because they did'nt want to mess with inferno's already cool headsculpt?

I mean fans were already wanting a new head for onslaught. Headrobots is just about to come out with the duros parts to modify walmart universe hardhead do to that market.

I guess what your saying is you want spark (Pyro) to have the faceplate if he was retooled. Then you could even go the meta route of this is Pyro/spark without the faceplate. Like Animated Optimus Prime or Live Action Movie Prime.

A simple excuse to save a headsculpt for other figures like sky bite and breakdown.

I specifically didn't say that. This thread is a bust.
