Why are the guns to Action Master Soundwave and Treadshot always getting mixed up?

I am trying to buy a complete Treadshot, and nearly all the eBay auctions I find have him with the wrong gun. Even Transformerland has them mixed!? Anyone help figure this out?

Here are images of the MOSC, you can clearly see who has which gun.

Yeah, I noticed that when I tried to sell them. I only bought Treadshot about ten years ago, so I was much more familiar with the gun Soundwave had come with. I was fairly confused when I checked TFU to make sure.
    Soundwave (1990) - Decepticon Communications - www.tfu.info
    Treadshot (1990) - Decepticon Gunslinger - www.tfu.info

That's the same gun for both.

Then I checked other sites and was even more confused... until I found photos of the two toys MOSC.

The reason why this is are the instructions.

Soundwave's instructions show Treadshot's gun. Treadshot's instructions show yet a different gun.

With people stashing away their toys in boxes, when they took them out again years later, the only way to assign the little guns to the right toys was using the instructions for reference, since the 1990 catalog was all over the place (both Grimlock and Snarl have Soundwave's weapon, Kick-Off has Blaster's weapon, Soundwave and Banzai-Tron also appear to have the same weapon, Shockwave doesn't have a weapon at all...).

I discovered this issue earlier this year.

    Ebay:
Omega, the pics you posted are corrrect. The 90 catalog is full of errors as Nevermore stated. I have never seen a MOSC Treadshot come with the gun pictured in the catalog. I have my original from the 90s (only owner) and it was exactly as the pic you posted (I didnt have Soundwave until about a 6 months ago when I purchased from ebay).

Its frustrating, I'm told constantly by seller that I am the one who is wrong. I can't get myself a damn Treadshot without worrying about getting the wrong gun!
