This really gets on my nerves..i get all excited because a new trailer is up, only to see the link is html, not direct download. I've been looking for downloadable versions of the 30 Days of Night R-Rated and 1-18-08 trailer for a few weeks now, I would've thought someone would've at least ripped them by now. Does this annoy anyone else?

Because content providers want complete control over their content.

Yeah I know, what I'm saying is they're never available for download, only streaming. I wanna put them on my Zen. :(

Yes, damn those content providers who want a say in how their content is controlled!

There are a few extensions for Firefox that allow you to download embedded videos. I've got this one.

It annoys me greatly, man. I go looking for a trailer to Download and watch at my leaisure and I have to watch it on their website because they don't want to distribute it to the public (Ironically, that would probably make more people come to their website). Also, another contributing factor to this irritating TREND, is YouTube and host of other websties that support the 'Non-Download' fever going on around the world. When I go looking for an elder Trailer (2000 - 2005), I might as well forget finding it in a downloadable WMV version and not ASX (or whatever).

I have a Window Media Player and I find it highly irritating to be unable to download a Trailer I loved (even if the movie wasn't great) and enjoyed the film afterward, if its in another format or the aformentioned subject of discussion. Thankfully IGN.com/Rotten Tomatoes has some trailers for 2007 and 2006 available for download, but not a lot of them.

It's very, very easy to download streaming video content - I use WGET, personally.

I just find it bizarre that so many companies don't want you to download their commercials.

Yeah no kidding, there are several trailers I liked MORE than the movie itself, either because it had awesome music or whatever the case might be. Aside from being able to watch it at your leisure (the official sites also tend to lag way too much), you'd think they'd WANT you to download the trailers. I mean, you download it, put it on a zen or ipod, your friends watch it, and word starts to spread.

IGN is usually my last oasis for finding a trailer...when other places don't have what i'm looking for, they almost always do. They seem to be taking their time adding anything new though...I don't think they even have TDK teaser up.
