G1 should be most prevalent because it focused on hidden robots interacting with a modern tech world for the most part. What series other than G1 and rid did that? The whole unicron trilogy had a futuristic society, beastwars had the human ancestors. Neither of those two series sets had anything to do with a modern society, so why pull stuff from them when there's enough great stuff to pull from g1?

Weeeell, I suppose you say Transformers had sparks during G1. They were just never mentioned. Or maybe they were were more commonly known as 'laser cores' according to G1 Megatron.

Because G1 was the original Transformers and made the lasting first impression that a lot of us identify Transformers in general with.

Think about it... if you know someone for a while and then they decide to change their name and some things about themselves to cater to what is modern and hip and new you would probably think about them in terms of how they used to be and what you came to know them by.

Just how our minds work I suppose....

I grew up with G1...so naturally I would want to see characters on screen that I remember watching as a kid...thats my reason for choosing G1

^ This. I have to admit, I fall into the fandom curse and have my similar biases as the above post. Plus as I get older, I find myself being more stubborn to accept change. TIE Bomber pretty much nailed my preferences above, all except I actually like Mospeada better than the Macross saga in Robotech.

I wouldn't call it just the fanboy mentality. More like the fan mentality in general. Everyone experiences this whether it is a beloved band that you wish could get back to what you like about them originally or your favorite sport that isn't as appealing as the days of your youth. This isn't some exclusive phenom to world of geekdom, far from it.

G1 was first, and it's also the version that the most people are familiar with (well, not counting the new movies, that's easily eclipsed G1 in terms of awareness already)

I don't think they should use G1 one stuff completely. Movieverse is a whole diffrent series/Saga and should have its own style.

G1 is the mother of all bombs for TF IMHO no G1 no TF. Its the origins, roots... you cant enjoy anything past G1 if you didnt loved it.

Yes. That explains why there are no transformers fans under the age of 25. How could it be otherwise? That's why the movies are so heinous, and all the new toys suck. It's like they're making them for kids or something. Total bullshit.

The movies are heinous, and the new toys do suck. I'm not saying this because I have a problem with what they changed in the movies either, I'm saying they are heinous due to the script, the "humor", the plot holes, ect...As for the toys, I not only don't like the looks of them with a few exceptions, I also feel they are way overpriced, but unfortunately a lot of toys nowadays are.

In my personal opinion I think they should not put in ANY more G1 elements into TF3. We've already seen they can't handle the G1 stuff they have already put in there, why give them anything else to fuck up? Let them fuck up Armada or Energon or some shit. =)

As far as I know, they have not fucked up G1. G1 is not the movies. The movieverse is its own continuity.

I mean, would we say Armada fucked up G1? That took elements of G1 too, but it is not G1, no?

All the series and the movies have taken elements from G1.
