Oh, Wheelie for sure! I like Drift...
Wheelie. Drift pwns.
I used to really hate Wheelie, but the Spotlight issue for him was pretty good.
Drift gets a bad wrap since he seems to be "too cool" and the fact that he was introduced during AHM which for some reason a lot of people dislike. Personally I like him, I think the hate is misplaced.
Of the two though, I'd have to say cartoon version Wheelie since the IDW one is decent.
Wheelie's been a pariah for the fandom for nearly 20 years. Drift just got his own series. I think that shows who's hated more.
I love Wheelie.
Drift is meh/so-so for me in contrast to other characters.
Wheelie has at least had Spotlight: Wheelie which was awesome. Drift as far as I know is still just a fanwanky badass character.
I'm going to say Wheelie. The hatred around Drift has more to do with hype backlash than the actual character per say. And since he's still a new character, there's a chance opinion on him could be reversed in the hands of a good writer.
Well, I've said this before, but many fanboys like to rip on Wheelie just because they think it shows their superior Transformers-geekiness. I've met those guys before, and it's just funny to me.
From what little I know (G1 wheelie movie and cartoon, TFwiki Drift) I'm saying Wheelie. Drift is the kind of character that appeals to my teenage fanboi of just "whoa! He's so badass!!!" and I like that kind of thing. Utter badassery.
Now my only gripe is that the toy says Samurai and not Drift on the door panels, and the totally non-Universe style legs. Why!?
Definitely Wheelie. I think Drift is pretty cool, actually.
I don't hate either? Sure Wheelie's rhyming is sometimes annoying but it's also an amusing character quirk an equal other amount of times. Drift is...okay I guess? I mean it's off putting he has such a forced degree of coolness but I do like his design and when they're not putting him into deliberately cocky and cool poses he's not a bad character.
I hate wheelie I love drift end of story for me
Wheelie has never really bothered me. The original toy sucked and the cartoon voice could be grating, but eh, it's not like he was alone in that.
Since I don't give a f*ck about TF fiction, I have nothing against them. Both got awesome toys (Legends Wheelie and Generations Drift) and that's all I care for.
All it takes to make a character 'awesome' is some idiot with money to buy a license from Hasbro, another idiot with basic writing skills for his/her stupid ideas and an underpaid artist or a team of underpaid artists (in the case of a cartoon or movie).
The '86 Wheelie was a pretty rubbish character. he was the jar jar of TFTM: an ill-conceived kid-friendly viewer-character's comic-relief sidekick, without the comedy. On the other hand, ROTF Wheelie i genuinely liked. He was funny.
Drift is just a bit meh. if i was being generous i'd describe him as 'a bit dull'. If i was being more candid; 'boring anime fanwank'.
Unfortunately for all the points i score by bad-mouthing IDW, I don't think liking ROTF counts for much if we're measuring our transformers willys.
Cartoon Wheelie...but I find many more TFs from other series more annoying. But since it's between the two and I know next to nothing about Drift other than he's getting a killer looking toy soon...
Wheelie. Drift hasn't really done enough to make an impression one way or the other.
If anything, for me, Grimlock of season 3 to some extent was Jar-Jar annoying. I absolutely loved Grimlock from pre-movie, then he was made into a bad joke for Season 3.
All of that being said, I think this thread is comparing apples and oranges anyways.
This. Really no comparison between a badass samurai and an annoying little twerp.
But I did like Wheelie in the 3H Wreckers comic. Maybe it's because he did something, and only appeared for a few panels.
