Sounds like you got a great deal (I'm also assuming this is the Chinese set with English language--I know they released the full G1 Seasons 1-4 in a box set). Unfortunately, I paid a lot since that's all they had available on DVD in the US at the time.

I purchased all of the Rhino releases as each season (or volume) was released. I paid around $50 each for each individual season as it was released about what, 3-5 years ago now?

I doubt I'll drop any cash on the other sets being released (these are perfectly fine for me). Since then, I've purchased the Metrodome Headmasters, Masterforce, and Victory series.

    All in all, I've probably spent a good $350 + on G1 - Seasons 1-4 (US-Rhino) and Headmasters, Masterforce, and Victory (Japanese-Metrodome).

I still own these all and I doubt I'll ever get rid of them or buy newer releases of them (unless they decided to do English dubs on the Japanese series--and NOT the horrible StarTV dubs--then I'd have to drop some more on them).

Got all seasons last year for $250. Also came with a WST Soundwave, WST Thrust, WST Prowl, G1 Sideswipe, ramhorn, steeljaw, rewind, Jazz reissue Misb, Hound Takara reissue misb, Skids reissue, G1 Slag, G1 Sludge, and 20th anniv Prime MIB. I'd call that a good deal :D

I definitely agree. I just can't bring myself to drop that much more on basically the same thing. I should really look into selling off the ones I have and get that instead.

Yes, the Australian Madman release is official, as is the Metrodome UK version.

I believe there are official Chinese G1 sets, but with the extreme proliferation of piracy in China, it's sometimes difficult to tell what is real and what isn't.

And the chinese sets have menus in chinese. Hey, I'm asian and I ain't gonna sit around remembering what X symbol or character means when I just want to watch.

uh, no the menu's aren't in chinese. The menu is an autobot symbol and when you go to the differen't parts of the symbol different things happen. :O If you are too stupid to figure out what the play button on your remote does, that is your own problem.

Think I'll be going for the Madman releases. I'm sure the special features are great.

I still need to get the Madman BW sets as well.

If the Madman TF eps are anything like their M.A.S.K. set then you do not want to buy them. Get the China Tin DVD set and you will be happy... as long as all the discs work.
