Hot Rod sucks less, so I'm going with Hot Rod. Hot Shot was just a yellow ****** the entire Armada/Energon arc.

Hot Rod

 

Hot Rod DID give Galvatron a good fight. Granted, he would have lost if he hadn't grabbed the Matrix, but that fight was ALL Hot Rod. Then he grabbed the Matrix, turned into Rodimus, and threw out the trash, figuratively speaking (I liked Galvatron, too, dammit).

I found Hot Shot to be more obnoxious... but it was also mostly the writing of the show's fault.

But yeah, my vote goes to Hot Rod, no question.

 

They are basically the same character so I like them both the same.

 

Hot Shot has been in about 156 episodes and Hot Rod has only been in 4 (plus the movie), so I would have to go with the much more developed character - Hot Shot.

 

Hot Rod! Easily.

But I consider Hot Shot one of my favorite Unicron Trilogy characters. He's essentially is just another variation on Hot Rod for that universe. The name is just a change for copyright reasons. And I like the young hot head archtype. I really liked the way he came off in Cybertron.

Wait... shouldn't that be a point for Hot Shot then? I mean Hot Rod has never made me laugh that hard before.

If we talk about toy design, my vote is for Cybertron Hot Shot.

If we talk about cartoon character, I prefer Hot Rot - then - Rodimus. He was a leader, so he needed more characterisation. I see him trying to carry out Optimus's role, and asking himself if he is doing it the right way.

Hot Shots play the role as the young rebel who acts first and then think.

 

I liked both, they to me where very simallar, but HR became Rodimus Prime, and I love his charcter, so Hot Rod.

 

I would have said "Hot Rod", but to be honest? The fact that he singlehandedly got Prime killed... and don't even mention the "poor me" command style that he had afterwards in Season 3...

I have to vote for Hot Shot... especially the latter variations of him...

 

I like Hot Rod the best because he had flames on him.

That was funny, but we're rating the character. I prefer a reluctant leader over a mentally ill jaAm addict anyday.

 

I hope my choice of sig makes it easier to figure out my answer to this one...


Oh, and just so you know, there happen to have been a few different comic series which have featured Hot Rod (and Rodimus Prime) - the cartoons aren't everything.

And so was Hot Shot, by the way - but in a less interesting manner, in my view.

Personally, Hot Shot. Then again, I was born in '88, and didn't see any episode of G1 till June of last year, lol, and only the first couple of episodes. I also saw the '86 movie last year, and only once, and thought it honestly sucked. Aka, I'm not a fan of G1, lol.
