Movie, not only do I believe he would be larger, he has grappling hooks, guns up the wazoo and freakishly strong upper body strength like a gorilla. He also goes on all fours which would be a hell of a lot harder to knock down.

G1 Devastator is literally just a large scale strong robot. Movie would take him down.

G1 would win..... Because unlike Movie Devastator, he can stand!
He would just sit on top of him, pulling his head off.....

One swift kick to the jubblies and movie devastator would be in serious trouble.

We've seen G1 devastator shrug off major cybertronian ordinance, movie devastator got chumped by a single human railgun round.

I don't get the point of this question, aren't they supposed to be the same character? That's like asking who will win, Chuck Norris, or Cordel Walker? Isn't it?

Then again, movie Devestator did have that huge-ass vacuum thing.

The question is, if they both fought each other, who would win?

What makes you think the railgun wouldn't affect G1 Devy, remember, different places in the multiverse different exposures to technologies.

Movie. Like the above posts, four legs could totally make Movie Devy harder to fall, considering G1 Devastator is smaller, and made out of less vehicles, and doesn't hold together as well. I mean, Movie is basically just ONE ROBOT with ONE PERSONALITY and ONE MIND made out of MANY VEHICLES. So he holds solidly in place, and with a swipe of his front doggy paw, could just send G1 Devy flying.

And then considering that G1 had a lot of animation errors, one could even see G1 Devy being the size of Mudflap in the movie as he's sucked into the rotating, grinding, flaming jaws and grinder.

    Win :D

So movie it is. Unless the smaller G1 version can avoid its grinding, flaming maw of death, and go right behind the mindless creature and give it a kick right...

    ... there...

    damn you Michael Bay...

G1. They're both huge and dumb. They both have this and that for weaponry (Hoover mouth and hooks versus eye lasers and a really big rifle). But I think the deal breaker is that the G1 Constructicons can split apart and reassemble easily. The movie Devastator is just moronic drones.

G1 would win because if he had to, he could split apart into multiple robot modes.

I love these silly questions, this is asking to be an episode of deadliest warrior. G1 would win, movie was slow and lumbering. Movie couldn't use his vacuum weapon because G1 Devs is too big. If the scale of the vehicles is the same, G1 devs could out maneuver Movie devs, and transform 3 times faster while being nearly equal in size. Movie's vacuum weapon couldn't even finish Mudflap or whoever he was, and got his face lit up by a small bot. G1 Devs giant cannon would blow Movie devs face clean off.

G1 Devs. He's the ultimate combiner and cannot be split apart because of being grazed by a rail gun. And he did fall from the Empire State building and survived.

We don't know that it wouldn't, but I'd wager it would have less effect than the magnetic ballista thing from the original movie (which from the looks of it looked like it had a much larger payload, and an explosive one at that), which barely even fazed G1 devastator.

Also, like it was mentioned earlier, one small autobot was able to wreck movie Devastator's day, the entire G1 dinobot team had trouble fighting G1 devastator.

Never thought G1 Devs was that dumb. I think he would actually outsmart movie Dev.

There was that one time that one shot from Optimus Prime's dinky little gun took G1 Devastator down.
