Jazz, Mirage or Sideswipe?
I'd vote for Starscream. He literally transforms from robot to jet in less than a second in the first film.
Mirage is definitely the fastest Autobot, though.
For me, Sideswipe and Mirage are tied.
My bad, I read Sideswipe as Starscream XD
I will say, Starscream is the fastest transforming Decepticon though.
Id have to say Sideswipe. He transformed quickly in shanhai.
Same in Washington during the Dread attack. Not on the freeway but at the NEST base entrance.
Jazz is pretty slow. I'd say Sideswipe because we never really saw Dino besides that 1 time.
We saw Dino transform about 4 times, three times in zoomed-in shots.
did anyone NOT see how quick Dino transformed in the highway fight? he did it 2x faster than sideswipe and jazz and it took half a second
Mirage is by far the fastest.
Mirage. You can't even see the transformation it's so fast. Even when it's in slow motion during the highway fight.
It seems to vary anyway depending on how dramatic they're feeling. Optimus takes like 20 seconds in the alley and in the nest base when there's no enemies around, but in battles it usually takes him like 5.
Same with Megatron and Sentinel Prime, it seems.
I voted Jazz, remember the scene on the overpass, when he says: "hang back, let me check it out."
mirage seeing how he did on the highway but sideswipe definitely has the coolest
It's basically any movie character in general. The filmmakers have even stated themselves that the transformations are dependent on environment and even the character's mood.
For the movieverse, transformation is essentially a muscle reflex. They can "control" it, for the lack of a better term. Much like how humans/animals can walk faster or slower, climb faster or slower, sit down or stand up based on what our brains tell our muscles to do, it's similar with the Transformers. Hence why Optimus' transformation in the alleyway is long and dramatic. He's got time to spare, he's in no rush. Meanwhile when he transforms in the forest, it takes a fraction of the time because he's in the heat of battle, he needs to transform quickly. On the highway, Optimus has to transform in a way that's quick, but also allows him to slow his speed and maintain his balance while skidding across the road. When he transforms in front of Mearing, much like the alleyway, he's in no rush. But he wants to make a scene. Optimus' jimmies are rustled, and you can tell by his transformation. He's angry. He slams his fists down. The panels are folding in a much more "insect wing-like" fashion, almost like a bird ruffling its feathers. Every character in Bayformers transforms differently, based on the situation. Whether it's Optimus, Sentinel, Megatron, Dino, Bumblebee, whoever.
Random thought: Do you think Transformers can stop "mid-transformation", or do they have to complete it, like it's an automatic sequence?
I mean, if they wanted to stop halfway in a jumbled mess of parts - could they?
That's a good question. I don't know if there's any definitive proof either way. And I also think it depends on what series we're talking about.
Beast Wars' transformation methods were basically audio commands that triggered internal computers to engage the transformation. If something were to inhibit that software command, I suppose they could stop. But that would be more akin to getting a disc stuck in your DVD player or your computer freezing up, rather than a conscious effort to stop the transformation. And that could be really bad.
With my fan-explanation of the movieverse transformations being a "muscle reflex", it makes stopping a transformation more plausible - if impractical. If you think of the muscle reflex analogy, stopping a transformation is akin to taking a step but stopping halfway, before you get to set your foot down. Or getting out of bed but stopping your movement while you're still hunched over on the side of your bed. It's doable, but why? Transformation happens for a reason, be it for battle or for transportation. Why would you wish to stop halfway and be stuck in a jumbled mess of parts?
Hahaha, I have no idea. Like I said, it was just a random thought.
