If this is indeed Gainax's new cash cow then more power to them. That means more merchandise for the fans. Right? Alter introduced two NEW Yoko statues at the Chara-Hobby festival. Bounty Hunter Yoko Yomako Sensei
I know it'll probably take a looooooong time, but I can't wait for the day I see a SoC Gurren Lagann, or even an Ark Gurren Lagann.
Currently I've got Revoltech GL and Lazengann, with Enki, TTGL and Yoko on preorder with HLJ. I'm tempted to get the model kit version of GL that comes with appropriately-sized papercraft Giga Drill. Probably won't be getting Enkidu and Enkidudu though, unless they come with something really awesome. You know what I'd really like though? A transforming SoC-type Arc Gurren Lagann. That would be insane.
Agreed. The Konami Great Impact has been getting a ton of praise from the folks at the robot-japan forums. If I had the extra cash I'd probably pick one up if they're ever reissued. But then again part of me KNOWS that Bandai will do an even better job if their Chogokin team got their hands on GL. I'll keep my hopes up for as long as possible.
Has the Impact line been discontinued or something? Enki keeps getting pushed back and Lazengann hasn't been officially announced.
Alter makes some might fine looking figures. GI GL is pretty good (more expensive than it's bloody well worth though), and while I'm sure Bandai could improve on it, the fact that a modern Gokin GL has already been released limits their market of how many they can sell, which I'm sure makes it a less appealing option. And a picture so's I'm contributing:
Hmmmmmm. Good question. It's been a LONG time since we've seen an update on Enki and Lazengan. Maybe they've been scrapped? I'm guessing that maybe they're focusing all of their figure marketing on the Revoltechs. BTW. Superb pictures Quinjester!
I'd guess they've been hit hard by the fact that Kaiyodo is revolteching every GL design under the sun.
More Yoko is always a good thing.....but COME ON Gainax. Can we at least get a decent Kamina and Nia figure to go along with MMS or Revoltech Fraulein Yoko? ‚Ë‚ñ‚ǂ낢‚Ç “VŒ³“Ë”jƒOƒŒƒ“ƒ‰ƒKƒ“ ƒˆ[ƒR Š®¬•iƒtƒBƒMƒ…ƒAmƒOƒbƒhƒXƒ}ƒCƒ‹ƒJƒ“ƒpƒj[ns—\–ñ¤•i‚O‚QŒŽ”*”„t23“ƒIƒt‚*‚Ý‚*‚Ý–{“X
They showed this at Wonder Fest Summer. Its a Nendoroid from GoodSmileCompany. I think its great. You can see more Wonder Fest Yoko stuff the boys at HLJ took pix of here --> LINK! Edit: I too would like more Kamina stuff, but I'm not a big Nia fan. She's too 'average anime girl' ish.
That big ol' PVC statue of Kamina is awesome, but I'd really like an articulated figure of him. Just to go along with Revoltech Yoko.
Yoko is more manly in the series. She's had one girly moment with Kamina before splat, but mostly she kicks ass like all the others. She's like a female Desert Punk to me. Think of Revy from Black Lagoon. She's actually interesting, unlike Nia who does the traditional shy low voice innocent b.s. stereotype littering anime. all that tee-hee stuff is so phoned in. I'm talking character, not appearance. In a bikini, Nia is still uninspired and generic.
But... Yoko fills ANOTHER anime stereotype. There's often characters like Yoko in shows, so she isn't that new. And yeah... the Revoltechs are sweet, but a warning with the GL - the glasses break FAR too easily. I knew this and still broke them by accident while posing him.
Dude, I was talking 'character'. And I never said she was 'new'. Read my post, don't just copy it. And the Gurren Lagann fills the robot stereotype and Simon fills the reluctant hero stereotype while Viral plays the honorable antagonist and so on and so on. My opinion was that Nia is generic and boring and no one disagreed. As far as Yoko is concerned, she's not a stereotype for being a girl. And the 'fan service' doesn't negate her being an interesting character. Check out GoDannar or Witchblade. Tons of fan service, but the characters are bleh and uninspired. They're essentially vehicles for showcasing boob. Then check out Gurren Lagann and Black Lagoon and you see the difference.
Did someone say Yoko? Wave is releasing a swimsuit version of Yoko, IMHO they also should've thrown in her tan lines. “VŒ³“Ë”jƒOƒŒƒ“ƒ‰ƒKƒ“ ƒˆ[ƒR …’…Ver. Š®¬•iƒtƒBƒMƒ…ƒAm‚v‚`‚u‚dns—\–ñ¤•i‚O‚PŒŽ”*”„t20“ƒIƒt‚*‚Ý‚*‚Ý–{“X
ok, ^ that ^ makes Yoko a stereotype The only time I remember her in a bikini was with a sarong on and it seemed somewhat under protest. That figure is nicely made but out of character. I think Wave made the 'sniper-look' Wonder Fest Summer Yoko too. Can't remember.
