I have nothing against Canada. Except those snooty French-Canadians! But seriously, being a life long hockey fan, I have nothing but love for Canada. That, and I'm strangely fascinated with curling. I can't get enough of it every 4 years at the Olympics. (And yes, I'm serious. Curling rocks)
"say" was a typo. I fixed it. The green smiley was indicating it was a joke post meaning "joke AKA not to be taken seriously". Me putting the "eh" in there was also a joke being that it is stero-typical Canadian speech. Man you people (see what I did there) are to freakin sensitive.
I know that. The list is of people who CAME to us from Canada, not who were born in Canada. Take Kiefer Sutherland for example, born in London, but came to us from Canada. And yeah, like Split Lip said, no making fun of Canadians or anything, but seriously how the heck did this "eh" come about to be associated with Canada? And why do the guys on South Park always have Terrance and Phillip saying things like: "I'm not your buddy, guy! I'm not your guy, fwiend! I'm not your fwiend, buddy!" Is that some reference to a show or something from Canada? Just curious.
Canada is a nice place. Nice Landscape, people, cars, piracy is legal, right? I think Canada is a cool place for some reason. 3 people who I think are cool on these boards live there.
Welcome to the internet. I'm amazed this is the first time you've encountered anything like this. It's no more annoying than anyone talking pally pally while you're playing a game. Nothing more annoying than kids talking about school or stoners proclaiming how stoned they are that second while you're trying to strategise or call something out. Language has little to do with it other than irk you because you don't understand it. So much wrong with this post I don't even know where to begin, so I'm going to leave it. Somebody gets it. Somebody else gets it. Vangelus wins it. People say fucked up shit on the internet. News at 11.
We'll maybe I need to pry into everyone's life so I know about JT failing his middle school math test and billy's mom finding his porno mags and such. If it is in a foreign language then how will I learn these things?
Yeah, it's not like you Canadians are as bad as the French!!! Kidding. But on a serious note I have a friend whose dad immigrated here from Canada and he a lot of times says "eh" after his sentences. But I guess I'm so used to that that I don't see a problem with him saying "eh".
a no-good quebecor nearly broke up my marriage, but I also have 2 other good friends from the Great White North so I can't say I truly hate Canada. I wouldn't let it bother you too much, Poho. Every MMO I've ever played has many people from foreign lands that take themselves and the "greatness" of their country way too seriously.
One of my friends married a Canadian. Not only does she say it, but when her family comes to visit they all say it. Damn near every sentence that is a question ends in "Eh?" So it's not like you guys don't say it. I don't mind it of course, they are kinda fun to listen to. They equally make fun of my Oklahoma accent. Makes for good times after we've all had some whiskey around the table! hehe
Look at some of the last run issues of the Marvel TF comic. Prime said "eh" quite often from what I remember. One thing that gets me pissed when I'm online is when I'm mistaken for an American. Seriously, am I really that much of a jerk? Okay bad joke I guess I am a jerk. I guess this is all more reason to have Team chat on only for games that let you, but then it's still easy to get teamed up with assholes. Maybe Nintendo has point with their no voice chat thing.
i think that's from Ocean's Twelve...it ends with "i'm not your buddy, jackass!" that really doesn't surprise me. and you know, sure we do say "eh" a lot at the end of sentences, but not any more than americans say "right" and "yeah" at the end of theirs.
You haven't really arrived on Xbox Live until someone from another country has made fun of your nationality.
obviously, i get teased for being canadian all the time, but these guys were being serious. they really hated canada. i've never heard of that!
I'm forgetting about all the sweetness you Americans say on Live. Show me one time I have ever insulted someones country. Paging drippy... I guess kilts are better then the American national dress of XXXL t-shirts.
