My suggestion is Billy Campbell who played Jordan Collier on the 4400 and Jeremy Piven who plays Ari Gold on Entourage would be perfect.

    Whats everyone elses suggestions?

Gary Oldman. Just look at the way he's drawn in The Ultimates.

I always pictured Timothy Dalton in the role. But I think he's a bit old to play it now. :(

QFT. He's got an intensity that would work well, imo.

Carlos Bernard...he's the wrong ethnicity (I think?), but really, that's the only thing I can think of that would prevent him from getting the role (and even then, we've seen how successful an actor can be when you disregard their race; although not everyone agrees that it was a good movie, Michael Duncan Clarke WAS the Kingpin in it).

Anyway, he's got the presence needed for Tony, and with the right facial hair, he could pull off the character well. And if the directors/producers are really that uptight about the race thing, they could always take the Orson Scott Card route and name him "Antonio" instead of "Anthony." :)

He's also used to being called "Tony." ;)

Yea, he may not be ethnically correct but honestly, can you tell?

Trim his hair a bit from that pic, add a gotee and you have Tony Stark. And he does have the intensity for the role.

    David Boreanez(sp)

He's already used to playing a character with a troubled past and is dealing with personal pain

Carlos Bernard is hispanic, which is caucasian. He could just as well pass as Italian or Greek.

None of which matters as Stark was never exactly defined by his ethnicity.

I was simply going to post that they need a good actor, one who can play intelligence, playfulness, class, regret, anger, self pity... But the suggestion of Carlos is pretty damn brilliant.

As for the other suggestions -

Love Boreanas, but he's not Stark. He'd make Stark Angel, or Booth.

Frakes? Big Trek fan, but Frakes is a better director than actor, and there are obvious issues with age and waistline.

I'm pretty sure Gary Oldman could play Arethra Franklin and pull it off brilliantly, but again I think the age is agaist him.

I don't know Campbell or Piven well enough to comment.

Katt? Never saw him much out of Boston Public, and I just don't get the right vibe from him. Could prove me wrong, but I'm just not seeing it.

Dalton? Sure. Same with Brosnan. There was always a Bond quality to Stark. But again, age.

    Hmmm...

He's a little thin, but how about James Callis?

It depends. If we are talking 616 then Jonothan Frakes. If we are talking Ultimates then Johhny Depp. If an Ultimates movie is made then Nick Fury's picks should all be used, except for Lucy Lui and Steve Buscemi. No clue who could play The Wasp, but Micheal Shanks is the perfect Bruce Banner.

Didn't hank pym chose Buscemi for Banner? Johnny depp would definetly work for an Ultimates style Iron Man. Man the stuff From Ultimates is such "waiting to be turned into a live action movie" gold. Replace the Ultimate Cap origin story intro with a Ultimate Hulk origin intro and bam Vo1 and vol2 are the basis for the most baddass Hulk movie possible. Make Ultimate 2 an "Ultimate Thor" or an "Ultimates" movie as a sequel.
