Movie Transformers are not obscure. Hell, even before the movies mainstream audiences watching tv probably didn't know who Bumblebee was.

I just wish they were used more often.

Blackout in Animated and Barricade in WFC's a good start.

Barricade's gotten a lot of publicity after the movies. He's far from obscure.

    He's:

    Been written into G1
    Put in WFC
    Got a Botshot
    Loved and cherished by many

And with Blackout's Animated appearance, I wouldn't call him obscure, either.

But we need more Flatline. Screw Galvatron, Straxus, Thunderwing, or Overlord. Make Flatline and Thundercracker movie 4's villains.

The OP ask what my favorite obscure TF character is, I gave my answer.

Being honest, the only new Tarantulas figure I know of is the Robot Heros figure. That's one new figure since the Fox Kids repaint of the transmetal version. He's been out of action on tv since the BW series ended.

Its not like he's one of those characters that had reboots in almost every series since.

But he did appear in over 30 episodes of the cartoon, 3H Comics, have two figures that recieved a couple of redecoes and a retool (I may be wrong on the retool) and also was represented in a video game or two. If that ain't the opposite of obscure then I don't know what is. Seems more like Tarantulas is just a character you'd like to see more of in some way, shape or form. But, that won't make him obscure.

I feel like anyone who's had both a) a Hasbro toy and b) a recurring appearance in a major piece of English-language fiction probably doesn't qualify as obscure.

    Huffer.

One of the first TFs I ever bought, definatly was my first Mini-car. The first TF I ever tried to draw. The first episode I saw of the cartoon was MTMTE part 2, which stared out with Huffer's arm chammed in here, and he couldn't get it out. :D

He was the only other Autobot I ever recall pulling Primes trailer, other than Prime himself.

Huffer complained, but he wasn't a total crotch about it like Gears was.

In the EP 'Devide and Conquer' he almost took up a leadership roll in repelling the Decepticons attack on the Ark.

Huffer was orange and still awsome, not many other TFs have pulled that off.

    His arms were chrome!

When it rained his head remained dry because has cab made for a fantastic umbrella.

He never did anything as reckless as run up to Megatron and punch him in the leg.

G1 Elita-1 and her gals. It would have been cool to see their transformations fleshed out more, I dig the forms they had (pickup truck? YEAH!) and girls were allowed to transform into something other than motorcycles.

Ironfist.- He's basically us. (well, at least me).

the monsterbots as a whole- I'd honestly rather see them homaged as the 'not good' Autobots than the Dinobots.

Hound.- Or Mr. Could-have-been. Along with the fact that he actually enjoys earth, defying one of the most common alien archtypes, he actually seemed pretty cool before Bumblebee stole the show and I'd like to see him get a second chance.

I kind of like the concept of Crosswise - a Transformer Van Helsing - and it's a shame that he never got more character time or a series dedicated to that kind of thing.

Rewind Eject pointed out Ironfist and Hound, who I think should be the inspiration for future Bumblebees (or just merge them together psychologically and plant them in a Bumblebee body.

I also like Elita and her troops from G1, and I wish they had done more with them.

Universe Roulette and her sister, Shadow Striker (or as I like to call her, Silhouette) are a great concept, judging by TFwiki: two sisters who suffered the same tragedy, yet came away with two different perspectives.

I'd throw in Rattrap because of his overal personality (he brought humor and conflict to the group, something that made the Beast Wars Maximals thrive), but I'm not sure how obscure he is.

I also like Animated Redalert, and wish that she had been in the series instead of Ratchet, as a mix of G1 Redalert and Armada Redalert's personality.

From Beast Machines, Jetstorm was a great villain, one I would love to see again.

Transmutate. One thing Beast Wars was strong with was depression. I consider Transmutate obsure due to its deformed appearance. It was an interesting character, a great concept, it increased the depression especially considering what came one episode before Transmuate and good old Sue Blu was very effective as Transmutate. Plus its great that it finally got a toy years later.
