IMHO it all comes down to Drift (G1), Dinobot (BW), Optimus Prime (Movieverse), Megatron (Animated), and Wheeljack (Prime): each the greatest of their own verse. I honestly can't decide from all these just WHO would take the top post.

Dinobot, just because he's freaking Dinobot. But if all of them fought to the death and last one standing won, I'd place my bet on Movieverse Optimus Prime.

I gotta give it to Bludgeon, since he was able to use his sword to kill a dude using only his mind.

Bludgeon for sure. To a master of Metallikato, your moves are like slow motion.

I want to say that the answer lies in some obscure character from Victory.

as much as i hate admit it, Dia Atlas was said to be better swordsmen than that of Star Saber.

    .... so...

    For Autobots it's Dia Atlas.
    For Decepticons, Bludgeon.

now we need a fight between the 2.

    ?

Thats hard to say. The toy packaging for movie sideswipe says many come to him to learn swordfighting but it also says on Darksteels packaging that he was trained by the best Decepticon warrior. Wheeljack kicked aft and Dinobot did have a cool sword. I'm not really sure. They all seem cool in their own way.

FOC Grimlock has already gotten my attention and I'm looking forward to cutting some Cons down when I get a chance to play. Dinobot was great with his spinning sword and I would have to say Optimus Primal (original body) set the tone for all furter incarnations of Optimus to be sword wielders. Lest not forget movieverse Sentinel Prime.

    When and where?

From the TFWiki: Dai Atlas (ダイアトラス Dai Atorasu) succeeded Star Saber as Supreme Commander of the Autobot forces. A skilled swordsman, his prowess with a blade is considered almost equal to that of his predecessor.

Star Saber is the greatest in the cosmos.

I'd give mad props to Bludgeon, Dai Atlas, and Air Hunter (whose function is Swordsman).

Armada Starscream was formidable with the Star Saber.

But for technique, probably Bludgeon. For shear power, Predaking.
